Hi, I saw a z30 on Craigslist and it is a dev edition model sta100-5, is there a difference between dev and a "regular " version?
Also second question, I tried to verify the IMEI but could not verify, so I called Tmobile and ask them, they said it is not blocked but since it was not purchase from them they can't guaranteed. Any advice on purchasing a used phone as far as what to check to see if the phone is not stolen? Thanks

I would never buy a used phone. It's likely stolen, even if the IMEI is not blocked. It may also be a vendor demo model from a store or phone company. It may be reconditioned or used. It may eventually become blocked.

Its not a dev edition. If anything its a "promo" version given to someone for review purposes. The OS loaded is a "leaked" or dev OS though so that might be what he is referring to

I think the review devices have not for sale printed on them.

You can check an IMEI on swappa.com for free or you can use checkmend.com for $2.99.

Yes, it is possible to check an IMEI on line, but that's no guarantee that the number won't be listed as stolen or lost in the future.

the "dev" editions have an IMEI that normally starts 0044 or 0035, and will say "Not for Sale" on the front and back.

There is no z30 developer edition but there is a z30 beta version that was handed out to BlackBerry employees

It does start with 0044. Thanks all for your responses, to be on the safe side I think I will pass and upgrade to Z30 from BlackBerry shop. Hopefully BlackBerry USA will have a good black Friday sale. I'm in no rush since my Z10 is still very solid!!
