    Hi all,
Well, I have been searching for an answer to this question, but haven't been able to find any.
So maybe someone on here can help.
I Think I will get the Z30 but I would like to know if the Blackberry screen reader, the program that speaks the content on the screen for a visually impaired person could be turned on during the initial setup of the phone.
Normally, the program can be turned on by tripple pressing the Power key.
So, is anyone here able to try this on a Z30, if possible?
Try starting the screen reader once the initial setup begin by pressing the Power button Three times.
    Would be really apreciated.
    Many thanks!

I'm not on the factory OS (10.2.0.xxx) but I do see some options for Screen Reader (BETA) under Accessibility options in the settings. Here's a screen shot:

Could someone please try this on a factory reset Z30-img_20131166.png

If anyone doesn't know, the OP is asking if a factory reset device, or one fresh from the box, has the ability to turn on the Screen Reader function so that setup can be done using it. This can be done by tapping the power button 3 times. I can't factory reset my device at the moment but if anybody cares to give it a shot just tap the power button 3 times before starting the initial setup and ensure it reads the screen clearly.

    Hi,
Yes, I mean that if you do a factory reset you get the phone like when it's new. And at that first setup screen, emediatly after you Power on the phone, it's on that time I want you to try enabling the screen reader.
Also, if you are running the latest OS thats also good!
    Many thanks!

Yes you can. I enabled it right at the first screen where you select language.
When I tap a language it reads the text.
Unfortunately it also has a small side effect: You cannot make an actual selection and swipe to the next screen :-(
A workaround could have been enable/disable screen reader, but it is not a viable solution. Eg. you cannot scroll in the language list to find your preferred language.

So it seems not ready for "production" yet.

    Z30/OS 10.2.1.1925.

Well, you have to double tap an item to activate it.
    But thanks for trying!
By the way, has the Z30 some kind of startup sound?

    Oh ... makes sense :-)
    How do you swipe then?

I did not notice any startup sound and don't believe I ever have on any BB10.
The legacy deviced did have a tune playing during the first graphics demo.

If you swipe to the left or right with one finger then, I htink you should be able to do it.
