I got my Z30 about a week ago. I just noticed that the camera takes less clear pics than my z10 at night. I have heard that the z30 camera was not on par with the z10 and I think it is true. Look at the pics below. The first one is Z10 and the second one is the z30.

If your going to compare at least have both as screen shots of the same thing or pictures of relatively the same thing. This comparison is pretty flawed.

Yes one is a screen captured. It does not make a big difference. As you can see on the z30 pic the brightness is way high compare to the z10. Also the letters look so pixilated.

You realize you took pictures of two different things with completely different lighting.
They are the exact same camera BTW. I have both and they both take the same picture.
Also remember the z10 is an lcd screen, while the z30 is amoled. They will both look very different when you look at the device itself.

If you want to waste some time, take the same picture as close as you can making sure you have the exact same focus area and then put it on your computer monitor and compare. But even then it will be different but that's the best you can do

Sure but you realize the Z30 is taking a picture of a moving object (your TV playing the news) whereas the Z10 was taking a video so right from the get go blur is reduced.

You might be right. Also if any of you have a Z30 does the camera makes a weird sound when taking a pic? Mine makes a rattling sound when it a just the focus.

No funny noises but my camera app is extremely slow to focus and has issues taking any low light shots. I'm thinking an issue with OS10.3.0.1418 however.

Going to load up the latest release onto my Z10 and test it out. See if there is improvement in the camera app. If there is, then I'll do a non-distructive update to my Z30.

Actually the first pic is from a video. The second one I was just testing the camera in z30 taking a pic to the TV. I'm not a professional but I know how to take pics. I just wanted to see the difference in the cameras.

I have also just "upgraded" from Z10 to Z30 this week, and today noticed very sub-par performance with the Z30 camera, when compared to the Z10. When I first noticed the poor focusing, I thought "crap, I've got a unit with a bad camera." Now that I'm going through the forums, however, I see several folks with the same issue, so hopefully it is a software issue.

The most obvious difference can be seen when aiming both the Z10 and Z30 at a distant object, then zooming in to max. When not zoomed, the pictures look relatively similar, but when zoomed, the Z30 is not focused whatsoever, and no amount of changing the focal point square will resolve the issue. The Z10 will focus very respectably, and though not as sharp as when not zoomed, it still takes a clear picture on max zoom.

This behavior is the same, regardless of lighting, BTW, although as noted elsewhere, focusing in low light can take quite a bit longer (for both phones).
