Bought an advertised brand new Z30 on Amazon from FGS Trading. Device looks fresh out the box only to be met with this message when setting up my prepaid data.

"Cannot activate the selected plan. IMEI of your device is already registered to another subscriber"

Simply put, the seller activated a data plan on the brand new phone and now data is locked to their sim. My carrier says the can't do nothing about it, the seller hasn't responded as yet.

What am I to do? Is there a workaround?

They have an F rating at the BBB. Not good.

Was the device advertised as new? If so, wait 24 hours (48 if you've got the patience and...nerves) to hear from the seller. If they don't respond, initiate a return with Amazon. This seller seems to follow Amazon's general return policy.

A full wipe won't change the IMEI. I'd try returning it.

return it ASAP, they said it is new adn it's not... so you should return it or pay the price of a second hand device for it, not the price of a new device.

I had a similar problem with a cell phone I ordered via Amazon. Amazon made everything right with me and I am sure they will with you to. Just report the issue to them and they will take care of it.
