BlackBerry Z50 in Fall 2014?
- Hi there:
Any chance of the rumored BlackBerry Z50? The one with 5.2 inch screen and the one with 1080p display, may be running the 10.3.1 and was supposed to be due along with the also-rumored Q30 this fall?
Any one? I'll be deeply interested in such a device and am keenly and anxiously following up on any news in this regards. :-P04-24-14 01:05 AMLike 0 - Don't think they will be releasing another flagship touch screen device this year. The focus is the Classic for those who refuse to switch to from bbos to bb10. I bought my z30 on the assumption that the next gen z device won't be out till at least 2015.

While Ontario (quad core, 3GB RAM, 1080p screen) is in limbo right now, under the previous management it was targeted for the end of 2014. But now, Chen's targetingcavebusinessmen who obsess over thumb travel distance and fraction of a second efficiency.

But what is your thoughts on this "classic" blackberry? I can't be the only one who thinks that the trackpad is useless with BB10! I mean c'mon, everything that was done with the trackpad is easily done with gestures on BB10, so why the hell is blackberry releasing this device?
I know a lot of people are willing to buy it (from what i read on CB, and by a lot i don't really mean "Iphone like a lot"!), but i just don't get it! i loved the "belt" on my previous BB's (So did my GF before moving to iPhone), but since owning a Z10 and now a Z30 i don't miss it a bit!
the "phone" icon is there, going "back" is easy, the "menu" is replaced by easily accessing the active frames, going "back" isn't that hard, "end" is replace by hitting the "X", i mean why the HELL do people need the belt?
Like you said, "cave" men want this, but i can't be the only one that thinks that BB shouldn't focus on these people, since there's a lot of prosumers using iphones/androids without having any sort of track pad.
I get it that BB is a niche player right now, and i've been loving this Co. for the last 4 years, loved the belt on my 9000, on my 9700, and on my 9900, but it just has no use on BB10 phones!Shadowyugi and HUNTZODIAC like this.04-24-14 02:02 AMLike 2 - I was saying 10.3.1 because of: BlackBerry OS 10.3.1 Releasing End of Year - N4BB
And it is normal to expect 10.3.1 by year end since 10.3 should be around the corner now and we have been seeing plenty of leaks of it anyways.04-24-14 02:12 AMLike 0 - I was saying 10.3.1 because of: BlackBerry OS 10.3.1 Releasing End of Year - N4BB

the road map has been realeased (but that's only for dev to know whatS coming up!), but that doesn't mean that we're seeing 10.3.1 anytime soon (note that i'm not arguing with you or something, i wish we had 10.3 released already! and blackberry has been quick with updates this past year). But that doesn't mean that's normal to expect 10.3.1 by year end.
P.S by saying "on a serious note" i taught you'd understand that my first sentence was a joke!04-24-14 02:47 AMLike 0 - Selfishly I hope it is not till 2015 so I can use my upgrade on it. Already going to be saving for a second Z30 (for the wife) and Z3 for when/if it is released global for the daughter.

- Hmmm... I hope that they do continue to release devices like Z50 or Z20 (as successors to Z30 and Z10, respectively). I am not taking anything away from devices like Q20 with belted keys or keyboard centric phones. But I think they should also cater high-end, touch only devices here and there. As for 10.3 or 10.3.1, they are pretty much inevitable anyways. So we'll be seeing them as well.04-24-14 04:19 AMLike 0
- I think a new Touchscreen Device will come End of 2014 or beginning of 2015... The Boss of BlackBerry say Keyboard-Phones first... but I like Touchscreen more... so I hope there will be a new device in future.... and with BB OS 10 they are really great... better than Ios...Camelhmpz likes this.04-24-14 09:12 AMLike 1

Anyway, while I do have my doubts about the trackpad's utility, the reasoning for the Classic is, as I see it, to get as many people off of BBOS and on to BB10 as possible. Corporate users are generally the slowest to change, so if the shock therapy of BES10+BB10 only didn't work, then perhaps the more gradual approach of BES12+BBOS+BB10 that acts like BBOS will be a success. Slowest to change usually comes with slowest to learn, although, on a side note, using a PlayBook before buying my old Bold 9900 led me to swipe all over the 9900's bezel when setting it up at first. I never had any problems with gestures, regardless of how "inefficient" it is.
The gradual approach would therefore require theillegitimate child ofintermediate between BBOS devices and BB10 devices, the Classic. However, I don't think there should be any more Classic phones after the upcoming one. "Keep moving... backwards".04-24-14 11:08 AMLike 0 -

The issue with something like the Ontario is that it is too much of a me-too device so it is tougher to see that it could do anything to noticeably increase their market share or be able to sold cost effectively enough to support it's release, they don't have room for more than one premium device at a time and Windermere is clearly a more unique offering than Ontario.04-25-14 03:54 AMLike 0 - I think Z30 is the only high end full touch this year, probably in 2015 they will release an update. Z3 isn't out yet, it will take another few months for the LTE version, and then the q20, given BlackBerry track record, I don't see four phones being released before year end.
Posted via CB1004-25-14 04:14 AMLike 0 - Would be mighty disappointed if a new super specced all touch sleek device didn't show up before the end of 2014...don't want to move to Z30, even though it is a great device, but some how doesn't make me feel to have it. BlackBerry needs badly a device that screams out loud HAVE ME BABY and aided by proper marketing, it can slowly but surely bring in the numbers BlackBerry needs.

Z10STL100-1/10.2.1.2234 "the iPhone Nemesis"MAJ009 and itsachickthing like this.04-26-14 03:13 PMLike 2 - John Chen clearly stated in an Interview, that he hopes the "Z50" (the device that's meant to attract New Customers), is released by Sept 2014. But said there were no guaranteed, though they've been working hard day and night to keep on schedule. But this schedule is internal, within the company.
There is no mention if it's going to be a full touch or physical keyboard, but common sense by John Chen's words clearly state Full Touch high end device. i.e., To Gain New Customers.

This I believe resulted in some bad blood being generated and almost certainly was indirectly instrumental in certain CO' s loosing there jobs and so on. Concerning a Z50 variant Chen has confirmed that a high end touch cellphone is in the pipeline but that they are for the moment concentrating on the Z3 and upcoming Classic cellphone's as well as there enterprise products and software updates. If a Z50 comes out needs to be topnotch in spec's, styling, quality and have a price people are willing to pay for. Not only that it will need to have a must have factor that BlackBerry going to have to figure out.
Posted via CB1005-06-14 11:22 AMLike 0 - I hope the specs are somehow similar to the leaked Windermere specs that was just posted. Except for the screen ratio and keyboard of course.

- Maybe thats why Mr.Chen warned leakers. There might be something in the works within BlackBerry and he wants it as a surprise.
BlackBerry also assemble devices in Canada. Not only in Mexico, Foxconn (asian factories).
