I have a basically brand new Z30 with the dead screen issue...you remember it...software issue killed quite a few Z30 screens.

Without digging through every thread is there a way to get it back to work? Should I plus the HDMI cord in then update the software? Do a hard reboot 10 times?

My wife's Z30 has a cracked screen and I have this brand new spare with a screen that will not turn on so instead of changing out the screen I would rather get this one working....

Any helpful tips would be appreciated!

You could download the latest Autoloader and run it with your Z30 plugged into a PC with USB chord.

    Autoloader will wipe your phone.

Or, you could load a Blitz non-destructive OS using Sachesi.

One of the OS updates did that. BB said they would replace the screens as a special warranty from what i can remember. Not sure if you fall into that bracket.

As Chopachain noted, BB was and may still be replacing those units under a special extended warranty. You might have to contact them.

I received a replacement already but did not have to give up the phone.

I will try an autoloader as I have not used Sachesi before.

From what I recall, nothing could restore it to a working OS version. I think one person tried over and over and, well, yes, over and got it briefly reloaded but I don't think it stuck.

In addition, if they did replace your phone with another, they probably blacklisted the original device and so it probably would not work as a phone. Might work with wifi or as a media presentation (music, video) device. But maybe not even that.

Did anyone ever figure out exactly what was happening with that glitch?
I remember seeing talk that it may have been the display chip going into power saving mode (screen off) and then never coming back out of it.
