The only way to tell is order it. I ordered the Best Buy one today. Once I get it, I'll post what I find here. I don't have high hopes of it being an STA100-1.

Even it is the STA100-1 I don't think I'm going to buy it for $750 .That's way too expensive for a device that is 4 months old. Verizon has it listed for $500 and it has wireless charging. There is no reason for the $250 mark up. The most I would willing to pay for it is $600. I'm probably going with the Galaxy S5 when it comes out. I'm a big BlackBerry supporter but it's frustrating that I can't buy a flagship BlackBerry device that's 4 months old.

I believe I read it was GSM compatible with ATT and Tmobile which would infer it is not LTE compatible.

I've been waiting and I can confidently say that the -1 IS NOT available anywhere. If it was, you can be sure it would have been plastered all over CrackBerry

So, I ordered the Best Buy BlackBerry Z30 for the $800 USD (including tax) price tag earlier this week. Just got it today. Those of you on AT&T will be disappointed. It is not an STA100-1, it is an STA100-5. I may fire it up for the Hell of it and see if it picks up any LTE signals on AT&T (I'm in the Northeast Ohio area), but it will be going back. There are plenty of places to pickup an STA100-5 for cheaper. It is a beautiful phone. Looks so much better with no carrier branding. Will let everyone know if it does or doesn't pickup any AT&T 4G LTE in my area when I power it on tonight.

Screeech. Is this thing on? Can you hear me? NO ONE SELLS THE STA100-1! NO ONE! Thank you.
It was worth a shot to just find out what variant Best Buy carried.

Looks like the Verizon exclusive has ended.
    Source?

Crazy price. WTF is BlackBerry thinking charging that much?
For the last time, it's NOT BlackBery charging this much. Go to Verizon, GSM Nation, Negri Electronics, etc. and check what their prices are.

BlackBerry Z30 16GB 4G LTE BlackBerry 10.2 OS Cell Phone | Overstock.com Shopping - The Best Deals on Unlocked GSM Cell Phones

    "Carrier: GSM, ATT, T-Mobile, etc.
    Network compatiblity: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 / 800 LTE 800 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600"

I'm not sure which bands AT&T or T-Mobile uses but this should answer the question. Btw, Overstock is cheaper than Best Buy!
If that listing is correct (which, honestly, I find more places don't have than do,) then this one is the STA100-6--the one natively sold in South Africa (and elsewhere?) It will work on AT&T 3G/HSPA+, but then any other model will as well.

Why would they sell the Europe model?
Because it's Best Buy. Not exactly the cutting edge retailer when it comes to selling BlackBerries, or off-contract phones for that matter.

I believe I read it was GSM compatible with ATT and Tmobile which would infer it is not LTE compatible.
You could be right, but it could also be an incomplete/poorly researched listing. GSM compatibility and LTE compatibility are not mutually exclusive.

I can say with certainty that the STA100-5 does not receive LTE from AT&T in the Northeast, Ohio area.

That is disappointing, because I just ordered it last night. The ad is misleading because it states AT&T and T-Mobile compatibility. I guess I will send mine back as well.....

Yes the ad is misleading and I even called them up and they told me it was fully compatible with AT&T SMH. I still didn't believe them and rightfully so. If a AT&T compatible one is not released before the Galaxy S5 then I will be purchasing that. It's very frustrating that I can't buy a flagship BlackBerry compatible with my carrier. I'm not understanding why it still isn't available on BlackBerry website. But they will be losing another customer come April when the S5 is released. At this point BlackBerry needs every customer they can get with a 3% market share.

Not true. The -5 works on one Att LTE band, but not the more common one. The -1 works on both bands

The -5 also works with a third (much less common, band 2) AT&T LTE band. And guess what? There's a fourth band too (that the -5 does not work with, band 5)

The -1 is going to work on all four of these LTE networks. Plus all of TMO's networks. It's the GSM Z30 for the US (radio spec'd exactly like the RFK121LW Z10/SQN100-5 Q10,) so release it already, BB/carriers...

Pretty sure ATT only uses bands 4 and 17 for LTE in the US at the moment, right? Could you cite your source please?

*edit: I looked into it, and it appears that those bands are available for roaming, but not in the US? Is that correct? Because then it wouldn't really matter to me, haha

Gotcha. That's why I wasn't aware... When you said "less common", you meant basically non-existant, haha. That's great news for the future though. It'll be nice to get those LTE speeds in more places

Best Buy does their own mark up. That's why it is so much, at $750.

For the price, you can't beat the Verizon model with Qi wireless charging at $500. But this model will only get you 4G on AT&T. No LTE.

Is not LTE the same thing as 4G? I don't get why I keep seeing comments about getting 4G but not LTE. Is this a GSM thing?

ATT marketed their HSPA+ as 4G. But it's not really 4th generation wireless tech (or however you want to refer to it). It's more like 3G+, so to speak. LTE is what I would consider real 4G. And I believe that's how Verizon has branded their LTE since the beginning

Price has already dropped to $699. Also, Best Buy does price matching. I'm not sure if they will for any of the specific retailers that sell them cheaper, but definitely worth a try.

The BlackBerry Z30 is available online at Best Buy so I called them to make sure this is the STA100-1 and they couldn't tell me exactly which model this is. Does anyone have any information on the model that Best Buy is selling? I need the STA100-1 because its fully compatible with AT&T's 4G LTE.
I'd be weary here. Link above also says Q5 unlocked available and the Q5 was never released in the US. Do they have them in store, or is it online only? Even Verizon is order only direct to fulfillment so would be shocked if BestBuy had them in store.

Good luck. Hope it works out. Had one since Verizon launch as my work issue but switched to Q10. Couldn't do 300 emails a day on virtual keyboard. Plus had a major HUB corruption issue. Search the forums for "Woke up and my HUB" and you'll a rather large thread.
