    I began to wonder if BlackBerry new OS has an inbuilt dictionary that is not linked to any app.

    it sure does

    go to Settings / Language and Input / Spell Check / Edit personal dictionary

    You can add any words so they don't get flagged as a spelling mistake.

    Not sure if BlackBerry is going to invest in this feature. There are 3rd party apps that integrate with the share system and look like the iOS solution. I, for one, use VocaBuilder as it also translates to my native language.
    The flow is simple - select a word, click share icon then choose the 3rd party dictionary. If you do it often then the app will be in the suggestions area at the top.
