Hi! I've had a BlackBerry Z30 for about a month now and I'm still having horrible battery life. I do have a lot in my hub. BBM, whatsapp, 4 emails, FB, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Everyone is getting around the 20 hour make on battery, I'm getting around 6-8 hours of mix use. I came from a Z10 and I got the same amount of battery life. Any help or ideas? I did all the turn brightness down and all that crap. That didn't help but maybe 30 minutes. Let me know any ideas. Thanks!!

Yup, I get 2 days of regular use on a charge, and 12 hours with intense use. You should to.

Check your Device Monitor, specifically the battery section. I'm guessing that system is using up a lot. If this is the case, select it so that you can see a breakdown of its specific usage statistics. If you scroll down to the bottom two graphs, it will show data and wifi usage. In the event that this is high, and my guess is that this is the case, go into settings BlackBerry Link and make sure connections are turned off.

Change your email sync times from 30minutes. Turn off location services when you aren't using. As a matter all the connection toggles that you're not using. Wifi, bluetooth and NFC. Calibrate the battery. Do a full battery drain. Shut the phone off, take out the sim. Charge it while it's off and pop sim back in after full charge and boot. And maybe turn down brightest a bit?

And LTE might be the battery eater for you.

I agree with what other have said. What kills the battery faster is your reception. Last time I checked my battery endurance it lasted 26hrs~ and mostly because I spent 16hrs outside my house (the signal at my home is not pleasing)

Try using as much Black as possible, starting with your background. I have a black one and find that i get a bit more juice with just that.

Wow is right: These are my % right now on my Z30
System 8.25, Display 5.5, Standby 4.1, PIM services 4%, Input services 0.35 HUB .27, BBM 0.13 text 0.05% and a bunch of stuff 0.07 and below. Something seems off but I'm no expert in this area.

Did you happen to come from an older BBOS device or did you migrate date from an older BBOS device in the past. One thing I noticed us Text(SMS/MMS) was having some issues with saved messages I had saved back 3 or 4 devices back. BB10 doesn't handle the saved messages the way BBOS used to and essentially they become undeletable and cause some issues with the Text messages constantly trying to rebuild the text conversation(This is my opinion of what is happening and I have nothing to back it up other than my own experience.) I eventually started with a fresh load on my phone and restored simply my contact information to the phone so I could start from scratch. Much better. My Z30 lasts anywhere from 18 hours - 36 depending on what I am doing. I play music via Bluetooth for about 11 hours during the day as well as normal use. Good luck on finding the issue, but you should be getting way more than what you are seeing.

    Hi Guy,
I've just looked at my Z30 on Verizon , Device Monitor / Battery showing 47% time remaining 2 days 20 hours.
What is your OS version ? , mine is 10.2.1.2180
I only use one email account , about 100 emails daily, phone calls about 10 per day and my phone last in average 3-4 days before I have to charge it again.
Hopefully you will find out what services are draining your battery with the suggestions posted already and I will check that you are using a OEM charger that come with your new phone instead of any older Blackberry USB chargers.Good luck !

Holy hell! How much texting and BBM do you do? Your PIN is really high as well IMO.

Here is mine, and I have 3 emails, text, BBM, 4square, LinkedIn and twitter.

Mine was like that, **** and giving only 7 hrs

But after a week it settled and now is giving 28 hrs.

Mind I haven't change anything, same usage: Bbm, WhatsApp, news reading in CB10, Facebook, emails in push, brightness 50%, 4G.

    But now is much better.

LTE drains the F out of your battery. That's why I usually keep it 4G/3G. I do usually switch to LTE but that's usually when I'm charging my phone or need the speed.

Turning of WiFi hasn't affected my battery life, hut because Comcast has a lot of hotspots in my area it helps my battery life.

NFC, bluetooth and location are battery hogs so keep its use as limited as possible. By the way, if you do use location services, check of traffic data collection and location-based ads if you don't have any need for them.

As for email, try to adjust the sync interval times. For instance, my exchange is set to push since that's where I get all my important email from. Outlook is every hour, and my third one every 3 hours. Doing it this way has improved my battery life.

I get three days out of mine.I text and email all day. Since Windows mail is such crap when sending attachments I do a lot of invoicing with my Z30. I don't usually push it to three days but I have in the past.

Something is wrong with your text messaging. That is using way to many resources. I don't think you want to be turning down the brightness on the Z30 display, unless it's at full brightness. I leave my wifi and location services on all the time without issue. However, I never use NFC, so it stays off. Bluetooth is turned on as needed. I would be asking about that texting issue though. Hopefully you can find a solution for that here.
Oh, and my phone is always left on 4G/LTE.

hello everyone, i am from India, and using Vodaphone 3G plan, i got 4 months back Z30, 1st 2 months were getting great battery life lasting about 18/19 hours, recently a month back i installed leaked OS and my battery started to drains out like full down in 6hours. so i gave to service centre after 28 days they replaced it with another Z30, yesterday i got it, i charged it in morning to 100% and battery drains 4% on my 1st call which last about 3 mins. and Few BBM ( which i didnt update as few said that New BBM update drains battery ) the battery percentage drains to 70% .............

One more Problem i am facing is Device Monitor. now its showing 70% and battery Life 6 hours,

so is the battery life showing correct or the device monitor has some probs. ???

I've had my Z30 for a couple months and get a couple days from my battery. It's amazing. But if you're using 17% for txt you might wanna use a different method to message. Looks like you text a lot which also uses power for the display.

I think everyone gets one with extremely high expectations, Z30 will last like 30% more than a nexus 5 with similar use, if you're constantly on it, don't expect it to last 24 hrs.

It is the better of the bunch, take the iPhone 5S won't last a straight four hours with similar use.
