My phone is not even a month old, but power tools and traffic monitor is saying my battery is on its 1723 cycle.

I don't know if that's normal, but it seems kind of odd considering I have charged it no more then 25 times.

    Should I be concerned?

I don't think the number of times you charge it equates to the cycles. maybe Wikipedia will help here

Thanks for the link, that's more or less what I assumed was a "cycle" but it seems weird that it could have gone through that many in such a short time. I just looked at power tools again and it's up 1727 cycles now. So something is obviously off as I haven't had it plugged in since 630.

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Power Tools on my Z30 STA100-3 I have had for 10 months shows:
    Cycle Count - 130

I don't have Power Tools, but perhaps you can consider uninstall it, do hard reset, and then reinstall it to see if it still reads the same figure.

OK I have just installed the Traffic Monitor, it shows my battery cycle at 40.

My Z30 is 2 months old so I guess the number is about right.

I was shocked to see that my phone's battery cycles were so much... but then after charging they climbed up a lot more than it should!

Thanks everyone. From what most of you are saying it should be between 20 - 25 cycles. I just did a security wipe and reloading the software from BB link. (I am assuming that is a hard reset? Could I have accomplished the same thing by holding down the power button for 10 seconds?)

I can't imagine they put a used battery in a new Z30 and I don't think my battery performance was terrible. It would come off the charger around 6 am by the time I would be home around 6 or 7 it be between 40 - 50%, sometimes lower depending on usage. Much better than any other phone I have had but not as long as I would have expected.

I had four e-mail accounts, linkedin, 90% of use on wifi, LTE was turned off and two of the four e-mails were not push.

Thanks again, everyone here has been more than willing to help and I feel bad as I don't have much to give back to the community as I am kind of clueless.

Thanks. How are you liking the phone?

I am curious to see what the count will be at after I finish reloading the software and everything. I am far from an expert but there shouldn't be such a disparity in my opinion.

Hard reset is clearing up the phone memory from whatever garbage that applications put in after they use it. It's done by pressing both Volume's Up and Down button simultaneously for about 10 seconds till the phone boot.

Your battery life sounds normal to me.

The Power button hold-10-secs performs a reboot, it is not the same as a Security Wipe.

Okay. So what should I have done? Or does it really matter now since I wiped everything and will be reloading the OS?

FYI, I was running the most recent 10.2.

This is my first BlackBerry 10 phone. Previously used legacy device with physical keyboard and BlackBerry OS 5,6, or 7. The Z30 is very good device, I have all the functionality that I need.

Battery life was good at the moment I got 1 day 2 hours on average.

My phone is tied with company BES too so I got this BlackBerry Balance which is really useful. It locks my work e-mail, I don't see them unless I type in my very long password It does help in improving my work-life balance

Really? I didn't know that. I was using 10.2 for less than two weeks then loaded 10.3 OS leak. I don't like the 10.2 icons with black square shadow.

Well, at this point, yeah it doesn't really matter
It will be interesting, however, to see if the cycle count changes or is reset or such.

Yeah, I just DL'd battery guru to confirm, look:

    Battery cycles-img_20141204_114416.png

He wasn't updated the app since forever, so I think "this OS" refers to 10.2.

    I remember seeing 1200~ and then 100~ when I updated to 10.3 on a Z30.

I guess a phone's battery is dumb not like laptop's battery that has its own circuitry to manage it and keep the data.

Battery guru says the same, although it's gone up to 1735. At least it's consistent haha.

The battery is is 257, not sure what that means.

A 10.2 OS bug then. At least it's not a hardware issue.

My battery id is 256. Phone is STA100-2.
