I just tried out the blackberry assistant with marginal results. It does hear and display what I said, but it makes no sounds, nor does it audibly read anything back. It looks like it's trying to, but is muted maybe? Can anyone tell me how to unmute the blackberry assistant? Thanks

Well, the middle button (between Vol Up/down) is the MUTE button. Also, what is your volume level? Press the UP or Down and see what's with Volume.

Hi. That button launches the assistant on the home screen for me, but even if I don't use it to launch it, there is no playback. Media volume is about 50%. Normal alerts come in, just no sound with the assistant. Thanks

Hello. Thanks for the reply. I have "Voice Response" set to "On" in Settings -> BlackBerry Assistant. Is this the setting that you're referring to?
