Guitar pick is your friend. Also, if you start from the top bottom, its easier. Just start there and go 'round.

No works fine for me. Just wedge under the bottom opening and work your way around. The Storm phones were the hardest to open.

Agreed. Was hard at first, but 15 months later, it's easier.

Off-topic, but I miss my Storm! Just had it out the other day going through my old phones and my first BlackBerry. Loved it and it is so refreshingly nice in size compared to the Z30 and Passport I use now lol. Crazy how smartphones evolved.

As for the back of the Z30 just work your way around and it pops off fairly easy. Never had too much of a problem. Probably a good thing that it is so tight. Went in the ocean with one and survived after removing the back and hair dying it for an hour lol.

When it was new I had problems, but after switching devices taking out and re inserting the sim from time to time, it's become easier now. still firm but pops off nice.

I got my back case has gap between volume button, so it's not big deal to open the back case. But sometimes I don't like to see the gap

Mine is easy to open, but not TOO easy. Once you pop the lower slot open below the speaker holes it opens easily. I never tried opening it from the top. Not sure that's how it was designed to be opened. Maybe mine doesn't fit as tight as some others.

For some reason the left over shipments of the z30 are shipping with hard to remove backs. Just got a black one recent and it felt like it was glue closed. After sometime of putting it on to remove it has gotten easier.

Does anyone know why they designed it this way? A few other (non BlackBerry) phones open that way too and it's annoying. I much prefer the press-and-slide back of my Q.

I guess they figure with the non-removable battery, pulling the cover isn't so necessary. I do understand some people swap SIMs around and it does stand to reason the micro-SD card should be more accessible. However I've found at least the way I use my phones, I almost never need to pull the cover. When I first got my 32gb cards I loaded them up with the bulk of my music library while in an adapter plugged directly into my PC; later additions/changes are easy without pulling the card from the phone so I never bother. Can't remember last time I had the cover off any of them (except for replacing the screen on my girl's Z30) but yeah they were a hassle to remove!
