IDC reports it has sold 35 million smartphones in 2013 and 52 million expected in 2015 in Brazil (behind only the U.S., China and India).

At the current time BB has to be able to reach this market and it has to beat the crazy tax policy in Brazil and use Foxconn projects underway around here to compete with cheap androids ...

For my part I expect a Z3 in Brazil, at a competitive price, so I quit my current and appreciated BB9800.

I won't be surprised if Z3 was sold there and actually takes off. Hopefully someone is listening.

Yes, a lot, mainly in prepaid market (80% here). Devices, in 200-350 USD, like samsung galaxy Duos are great sellers here. LG and sony feeling this niche too. Can be a nice way for BB, really.

I really hope there are people from BlackBerry visiting the CB forums and taking note of good observations/ideas like this.

BlackBerry has always been pretty aggressive in the South American market.

I'd like to think that the Z3 has a good chance in a lot of markets, South America included. It's a good quality phone with an okay spec, and with 10.2.1 (10.3?) it will easily run a BUNCH of Android apps.

BB just needs to make sure the price is right.

That's good to hear regarding their presence in South America. I hope that if the Z3 does sell well there, BlackBerry will be able to replenish stocks in time to meet the demand.

How did we go from "there's an opportunity to sell well in market X" to "This device will blow away everything out there in countries not named USA?"

Brazil was a nice market for BlackBerry/ BBM. Now, after the years of no innovation, the place was taken by iphones, cheap androids and WhatsApp. I love my Z30 and I'm a huge BlackBerry fan for a long time, but the fight will be really tough here for BlackBerry now. Hope the Z30 can start change something, but i don't really know if the device is coming to Brazil. now is wait and see...
