I decided to start a thread here because I couldn't understand the price drop. I live in the UK

On launch, SIM-free, (no contract/pay as you go) it was 479.95, it dropped to 379.95, then 259.95 and NOW 229.95?! (USD $350/CAD $375)

Explain this to me, someone, and feel free to have a debate about this. This is truly devaluing BlackBerry in the eyes of everyone who thinks "Hah, then new BlackBerry devices are such fails that they have to cut the price in half"

    I iz worried

EDIT: Btw, if anyone wants to pick up one of these, it's a great time to. ^_^

That's definitely a big price drop. What's even more confusing is the same phone is considerably a lot more expensive if you was to upgrade your Pay As You Go device (429.95) I think the 95p could suggest end of life or temporary sale price.

Such a shame though, 89 reviews rated at 4.5/5 certainly doesn't suggest the phone is bad at all.

Haha you'll often notice that P&G is a lot cheaper than SIM-Free or vice versa at CarphoneWarehouse, I think they "forget" to edit their prices.

Buy "forget" I mean, leave a gap of at least 100 to get money off a blind customer or someone who accidentally clicked in a hurry

    It's the BlackBerry way.

    Launch phone at high price.
    Screw early adopters.
    Make a quick profit.
    Drop prices.

    Vs

Launch phone at low price. (competitive)
    Get in to multiple hands.
    Increase market share, attract developers.
Sustained sales due to early growth.

The above is not a pure science but they did the same with the PlayBook, one would of thought they would of learnt and tried a different strategy.

I think it makes sense given the Z30 is on the way. With the Q5 and Q10 supporting Miracast, which if the comments on this forum are correct the Z10 doesn't, then the Z10 will soon become obsolete in some people's eyes.
Personally I think the Z30 is getting a little big for my liking so to me the Z10 is still a quality product plus having looked at the miracast features, I can't see myself using it at this stage. Not sure if there are any other features that the Z10 doesn't have compared to the Q's. Anyone know.

Is the Z30 taunted as the successor of the Z10? If it is, it would make sense for the price to drop, although not by that much. Seems to me like it's a bit of both = mediocre sales + Z30 imminent release.

Went into car phone warehouse today and the sale flyer shows the Z10 at 349.95, when I purchased mine at launch it was 479 Sim free from O2. Still don't mind that I paid more at launch as I love my Z10.
