I set my Z10 to security wipe Friday night. It's Sunday and it's still wiping, stuck at 99% since last night.

Is this the usual time it takes to wipe a phone?

Anything I can do to move the process along?

Do a hard reset. It should bring it around.

Thanks for the tip. Tried it and nothing happened. Do you think it's wise to pull the battery?

    No.

Once a security wipe starts it has to run to completion. Interfering with it you only risk corrupting the OS and soft bricking the de vice.

What is with everyone and the security wipes lately?

I did the security wipe cause I wanted to setup the device new. Stupid me though cause I used a autoloader on my passport which took about 2 minutes.

I held down the power button and it started the wipe from start. 70% now which faster than the hours it took to get to this point. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Security wipes can take a long time. But usually not longer then 4/5 hours. I always recommend to delete everything first before doing a wipe. So all apps but also data on the phone and sd card. A security wipes destroys all date very securely (not like other phones and OS) , having a lot of date can cause problems when the wipe is in progress.

I don't know if you already taken out the battery (really not recommended) or did a hard reset. Taking out de sd card is a option too.

A hard reset is done by holding the volume up and down buttons untill you see the loading circle, only use the power button if you have a stl 100-1

I know to do a hard reset, which I did but as I said earlier nothing happened. I did hold down the power button and it has restarted. Now stuck at 87% again it took less time to get to here than it did when I started Friday night.

See, the thing with a security wipe is the security part. Once it is started it can not be stopped until the FIPS 2 requirements have been met or the whole thing goes sideways. If you have a security concern, then you absolutely want to do a security wipe. If not then don't do it.

I ended up removing the battery but that just started the process again. I downloaded a autoloader, connect phone to pc and it wiped it. Thanks for all the advice

I'm having this issue with a passport. After 24 hours of wiping it stopped at about 95%. I restarted it and it quickly went back to the 95% and stopped. Now I don't know what to do?

Download a autoloader and try to see if it will connect, that's what I did with my Z10 and it worked.

Try holding the power button down until the loader grabs it.
