I like my new Z10, it's a great device for work. I have a recurring issue, though. After I unlock it, the screen will periodically black out, particularly if I hold the phone parallel to the ground. Rotating the phone east and west seems to be what is needed to get the screen to light back up. It's weird, and very frustrating.

I've run the virtual expert, and the gyroscope appears to be working fine. Are any of you aware of a setting wherein the screen thinks you've put it down when it's held in a certain position, and blacks out accordingly?

Has anyone else seen this?

Sounds like advanced interactions is on. Are you running 10.3 perhaps?

I'm running 10.2.1.3062, according to the "software updates" screen.

There is a Proximity Sensor which will turn off the screen during a phone call when you hold it near your cheek. When moved away, the screen comes back on. Any 3rd party apps that you've installed?

Have you tried a restart

Try a restart:

Press and HOLD both Vol Up/Down buttons. Keep holding while the screen goes fully black (ignore the screenshot), keep holding through the Black/White logo and when the Colored Logo shows up, release those buttons.

If you have the STL100-1 variant the volume button reset method doesn't work. In that case, Press and HOLD the Power On Button until you see the LOGO as above
