I was there at the movies in a 3D one.. before it started I had the glasses on and I wanted to check my phone..

I found the left eye completely blanked out..

    I took a pic!

    The Z10 screen with 3D glasses.. weird..-20140127_153901.jpg

    Why is that?

The people with me had their phones looking normal.. we had a note 2 and a xperia arc..

    Any ideas?

Polarization. Same thing will happen if you have polarized sunglasses on.

I guess I can't wear those and use a Z10 cause the left is my only one that works LoL.

All polarized lenses when combined on a 90 degree polarization angle-difference, become completely opaque.

So why doesn't it happen to the other phones?
Sorry if the answer is obvious..

Probably because their screen glass is not polarized.

Depending on who you ask, polarizing a screen has benefits and drawbacks.

Personally I like polarized displays and you simply need to find which "polarization" or angle you need to tilt the phone to see it.

This is nothing new. The iPhone 5s can't be viewed straight on either when wearing sunglasses whereas you can see straight on with the older models.

Don't know why the angles were changed but I'm sure theres someone here who does.

Maybe one of your lenses was not polarized, or polarized at a different angle. I had a BMW 328, and with sunglasses on, I could either see the radio or the temperature display, depending on how I tilted my head. A while back there was a book that included three plastic polarized filters. If you looked through two of them, with the second tilted at 90 degrees, it blocked light (not surprising). But if you added the third filter, rotated 90 degrees from the second, light would pass through. Weird.

Technology sure is fascinating, man... I think I'll have to go read the Wikipedia article for 3D TVs... it should have all the detailed info...

But the fact BlackBerry went with this screen while others didn't is the question I won't be able to understand..

    Thanks guys..
