I accidentally finished killing off my VZW Torch 9850 several days ago. I pulled out my old Palm 700p and have used that phone as a backup.

The other day I picked up a Z10 as an upgrade, but have thought that I should wait for the Z30. I have not seen any set dates on the Verizon Z30, but I could get by with a backup phone for 4-6 weeks.

To me, it seems like a waste to use the upgrade on a phone that will soon be replaced.

What would you do/recommend?

Yea your right best would be to wait for z30 but know one knows the USA date as yet

You could always buy a z10 cheap and use your upgrade to get the z30 if you still want one after. Obviously I don't know your financial situation, but could be an idea.

Not in US. Based on the videos I've been seeing I would wait for the Z30.

I bought a Z30 over the weekend and today sold it to a friend. I prefer the size of the Z10. And since I've put up a 10.2 leaked SW version, I get the same features on a nicer display and lighter handset. Obviously I can only dream about the Z30 battery, but I'm still happy with my choice.

OP I think it depends on what screen size you want... they are essentially the same phones, the Z30 is just larger.... D o you want a larger screen or smaller screen?

The Z30 has loads of features the Z10 doesn't. They are not the same phone.

Like what? Besides the few hardware upgrades, what features does a Z30 have that a Z10 on 10.2 doesn't?

Z30 has:

FM Radio
Miracast
Better antennas
Bigger battery
Bigger screen & Oled screen (lower power consumption when using a lot of black, hence the dark themes.)
Better speakers (Natural Sound)
Bit faster CPU
Better GPU

IMHO the Z10 has the better phone / price ratio but if you can get the Z30 for free or cheap with an upgrade, I would definitely go for that. Unless the 5inch factor is to much for you. Due to the Z10 price drop and restructuring it's not marketed as a middel / lower class phone! So don't expect any return value on that one.

Yeah mostly hardware improvements (though I miss the FM radio on my 9360)... hardly any major software differences. Screen size is the deciding factor IMO, but we all have our opinions.

I'd have to agree with the phone to price ratio, the z10 at 339 is a steal compared to the z30 @ 599-649 I'm expecting

I also held one today at the source in square one ,Mississauga When I see the large screen a year ago on a kids galaxy at work,I thought no one will buy those . To dam big. Now I can't wait till mine comes in,just ordered a holster from the Crackberry store.

I ended up deciding to keep the Z10 since I needed GPS, maps, etc. that my backup phone did not have. Then yesterday I decided that I would take back the Z10 and wait it out for the Z30.

FWIW, the rep in my call to Verizon this morning said that the Z30 is supposed to be out by the end of the month, but he thought it would more likely be the beginning of November. He actually took in interest in how I liked the Z10, and commented that since I am still in my initial 14-day period, I could take the phone back and get the Z30. I can't remember which BB10 version my Z10 came with, but I ended up loading 10.2.0.1767. Very smooth... Looking forward to the Z30.

My 9850 became unusable a month ago. I considered holding out for the z30, but my upgrade isn't until May...my trusty Torch wouldn't last that long. So I picked up a z10... I love it! When it's time to upgrade, I plan to pick up a z30. Or I may just hang onto my z10...this thing is sweet :-D

Just as a quick update, Today's call netted a Thursday, October 31 release date for the Z30.
