Well as most of the rest of Canada knows, Newfoundland got hit with some pretty nasty weather over the weekend. With temps in the -46 range and a massive blizzard and power outages, My BlackBerry Z10 built in Flashlight came in very handy. I used it all of last night to get around my house and to see outdoors when going to retrieve my car to get what supplies I could get. I was at 100% charge at 9:30 pm NFST when the power went and used the flashlight almost continuously all night long save for an hour and this morning when the power came back on at 10:30 am and My battery was still at 30%. That is over 12 hours of the light being on. It worked better than most of the flashlights we have here, including a Coleman battery powered lantern which gave out after four hours. We have had a total of 130 cm of snow, winds at up to 170kph and freezing temps. I am thankful that I have this phone and coming up on it's first birthday, I must say that I am very pleased. I also did the "Light up a bottle filled with water Trick" to illuminate my house much better. Seriously this is the best light on a phone ever. Whomsoever's decision it was for the ultra high powered LED light in this phone , I Sincerely Thank YOU for NOT skimping on the quality. I had at one point dropped my keys on the road, that was full of black slush and took out the z10 and had found my keys just as icicles were starting to form on my eyelashes. Thank You BlackBerry for such a great product. I had also been using it to post updates to Fb and check Hydro's status on all social media. Recommend this phone to anyone.
( I read half of Col Hadfield's book by Z10 light.) Here is a pic of it being used to illuminate a Glass Coca Cola bottle. this really worked very well as a light source.Z10 Flashlight is a life saver to me this past weekend.-img_20140106_022053_hdr.jpg

Here's a pic of the snow banks in my neighborhood...

Worked great for me as well through a couple hours when power was lost because of the ice storm.

That's great, OP! But really, I suggest you get a Mini Maglite LED flashlight. With a couple of fresh, ordinary alkaline batteries, at low light setting (19.25 lumens, which is most of the time sufficient enough) you can get approximately 31 hours of light. That way, your Z10 can save its batteries and remain a valuable communication device. That's very important in times like this.
