My battery lasts 3 hours on a full charge. I have installed 3 leaked os, went back to official and same result. I bought the 4500 mah extended battery and it was great but I'm starting to think it might have fried something. Anyone else experience something similar? I'm out of ideas and it'd be a shame to just toss my Z after just a year and a half..but I might have

Take a screen shot of your device monitor showing the current cpu usage. If you just rebooted, give it 10 minutes to settle first. Don't have any other apps open.

Also, what OS are you on now? Type "myver" and let your keyboard autocorrect.

    Go with 1418,
    Check PiM

Reduce sync intervals for stuff like contacts and email if you can

Moderate to heavy usage for me, I have GPS running and a few extra apps for work

I get a good 14+ hours with 5 min email sync, 24 hour contact sync, I deleted twitter and some other stuff that I don't use that would sync with data

    Also. Low brightness

OK. I see what's happening. System should settle at around 4 to 6% when the phone is idle. Something is in an infinite loop or something.

This is going to be nasty, so you need to be patient.

I would backup whatever you can, because you will need to start clean with a fresh autoloader install, and it will be necessary NOT to do a restore. There is a corrupt setting, or app messing with you.

After autoloader, do a security wipe. Once that is done, boot the phone, fill in the opening screens properly, and then wait. Seriously wait about 1/2 hour with the device monitor on. Wait until the cpu settles to 4-6%.

Then you need to add back one thing at a time - starting with your accounts. After each account, wait for the cpu to settle again.

If still good then start adding back your apps from bbw a few at a time. Then followed by Android apps.

    Good luck!

Thanks! I will have to try this tomorrow night after work; really hope this works!

btw would installing a leaked 10.3 make a difference or is it safer to use a 10.2 autoloader?

My Z10's battery sucks sooooo bad. I hope BlackBerry comes out with an all touch Passport soon. I can't take this. Sometimes I can only get 2 hours from a full charge.

Your system is using too much cpu. As I wrote above, system idle cpu should sit at between 4 and 6 percent. If not, something is corrupted and in some kind of processing loop.

You really need to do what I suggested above - rebuild from the ground up starting with a clean device.

I have had the same issues.
Brick the phone and reload and the battery acts normal again.
Works every time on this side...
Battery usage on 10.3 is 3 hrs stby. After bricking it lasts a day +

Remove all the apps, check that cpu settles to 5% at idle, then add them back one at a time.

With the OP's 4500mah battery, the Z10 should last 12-18 hours easy depending on use.

most days id have over 30% left at EOD. i have tried to do follow your steps; it was holding at 11 hours at first then i added my gmail and calendar and its now at 92% w/ 6 hrs remaining..i dont think the external battery screwed it up because ive tried altering between the two to see; i have the original in right now..

PIM services were eating up a lot before i had even added my gmail, have you seen this before?

Your phone doesn't 'like' the new os.
Cpu usage is probably high, just as the system usage and maybe the Pim services as well. High is all above say 25-30 pct.

If that's the case just revert to standard os. I've searched for a solution for 2 weeks, none found.

Gotta load the. 800 though the Sacha blitz method for fun but no time yet

Don't worry about "hours left". It is just setting up, so battery might be rough for a bit.

Focus on current cpu usage in device manager.

If you have a completely clean install, don't do anything until you have that number down to 5% or so. Sometimes it takes an hour to initially settle.

Add your accounts and then wait for it to settle again back to 5%.

If it can't settle after only adding your accounts to a clean install, then you may have a fault with your phone.

thats the thing, i reloaded the initial software through Link. then i autoloaded a newer version and that prompted me to do an update which brought me to the 10.2.1.3247 which i currently have running on it; im not sure where the problem lies at this point and as much as id like a z30, i dont know if its worth the investment since it might crap out like the 10 after a year and a half..

As long as it actually CAN and DOES settle to around 5% when idle, it means that the cpu isn't stuck in some kind of weird loop. This is a good sign. Keep going. A "setup" day is not a good day to judge battery life. Tomorrow and the next day will tell.
