    Hi folks,
I dropped my Blackberry Z10 in the ocean a while back and wondered is it the end for my phone?
I plucked it out straight away and dried it off as best I could, taking the battery out and drying the inside also. When I put the battery back in there was no light and it wouldn't turn on. I got home and left it overnight in a bowl of rice (I heard about this somewhere not sure if it works but the comcept seems good). The next morning I plugged it into the mains the light came on and the phone started working again so i managed to get all data off phew!.
Unfortunately I let it go flat a few days later and now it wont start at all. When I plug it into the mains the light comes on for a long period then goes off, but the screen is always black.
It's a long shot but do you think my phone is recoverable or should I prepare for a funeral
    Cheers in advance

I guess you should prepare for the funeral, sea water is notoriously bad for electronic equipment, you might try and immerse it in distilled water to clean it (without the battery, SIM or SD card in) and then put it in a bowl of dry rice, however this may do more harm than good but if it's dead it can't get any worse right?

It was probably too late when you put the battery back in. When the device is almost dry, but not quite is when most damage is done.

But if you want to try something don't use water distilled or otherwise. Get a good electronics cleaner. Make sure you get into all the areas, don't be stingy, then let it dry out overnight.

Next time clean the phone with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol. It will clean away the salt and will dry quickly.

Thanks everyone - I did think it would be the end, but had a moment of hope when the red light came on again - Never mind.

Thor1972 good advice - I hadn't thought of NOT dropping my phone in the ocean :P

It happened the same to my Q10....I washed it in distilled water for 10 seconds down....dried it with towel and then left 3 days surrounded by rice. When I switched on there was red light and few functions not working well....wiped and then all was ok!!

Sorry for your Z10....maybe u can give one more try with distilled water? Do you have another battery?
