Wife's Z10 fell on floor, back popped off, battery fell out and now it doesn't turn on. She's done this .... many times and its always fired right up. This time nothing. IF she plugs it in it turns on but just shows the charging symbol on the screen. Is it done for good this time or would it be worth getting a new battery? The phone has stood up amazing over the years and she got a Leap today but she would like to get her contacts off the old Z10.

Have you tried connecting it to your computer with a USB cable to see if that wakes it up. I'm wondering if maybe the power on button isn't working properly.

I guess that's it then. Are her contacts not associated with an account that can be accessed from another device? And never backed up?

I think something snapt off like a connector on the motherboard. Because it's dead why don't you try to open the phone and see if all components are still in place.

On YouTube you have full assembly en disassembly videos.

This morning it came back to life ... some what if left connected to the charger. She was able to get into her phone contacts copy them. When you shake it you can hear something rattle a bit and its been like that for a while. But really this phone has lived a hard life. Been submerged in water twice, bounced down stairs crashing onto a cement floor (back flies off with battery) and has fell on floor numerous times. All this with no protective case on the darn thing. From seeing how my kids Androids and IPhone have stood up .... the Z10 was one tough phone!

My wife's Z10 died a week ago after 2 and a half years of heavy use (no dropping though). Woke up to flashing red light. Tried different batteries and re-installing OS with no luck. Gave her my Z10 and got me a new Classic from T-Mobile. I missed the physical keyboard after giving my mother my Q10 three months ago. Out of all the BlackBerries my family's had (5 of us), my wife's Z10 is the first one to give up the ghost.

I sympathize with your lady, but back up always do the damn thing -back up. No one knows why stuff like this will creep up. Perhaps it's time to upgrade to SE or Classic.

Yeah backups ... we should all do it but always put it off! I did mine this week and after this hassle getting a new phone I went searching for another Q10 to have a as a backup. I ran across a local like new Z30 a young lady had for a few months and wanted some cash for. Got it for cheaper then I could find a Q10 right now.

Glad your got your queen up and running in no time. I hope she likes the Z30. You can find unlocked Q10 on ebay.com or swappa.com. I recommend a Classic or Passport though.
