My z10 charger is making a hissing sound ever 5 seconds and is really warm when charging my z10. Is this normal? I don't think my old 9900 charger did this.

Mine doesn't do it. The hissing sound isn't great, but they do get warm when they're charging the phone...I would contact your retailer for advice

That doesn't sound good, and I take it you have it connected to the wall outlet?

What happens if it is connected via computer?

Black cube with USA port on a side, with BlackBerry logo on front. I have an old charger like this that makes the same sound while charging or not. That's enough reason I don't use it. I still haven't. Used the one for my Z10 because I am still using the one that came with my 9900 with no issues. All three chargers look the same.

Via pc is fine, its the outlet piece that is making the noise. This started recently. And I think it has affected my battery as it takes 3 hours to charge and only lasts about 7 hours with minimal use. I will be taking this to my carrier though.

Do you get a smell coming off the charger? I just had my brand new Nexus 7 charger start to make a ticking sound when charging. Got a slight electrical burn smell coming from it. Took it back today to get it replaced. I wouldn't use it as it could be unsafe.

I have had the same problem with my old bold 9900 charger as well as the new Z10 charger which is identical to the old one. Using my PlayBook charger bedside now since the noise from the Z10 charger is preventing me from a good night's sleep.

How did it effect your battery?
For me i charge it for almost 2 hours ( if my battery is dead) and i would say it would give me a full day with low - mid usage, and by the way my charger does make the hiss sound but only when my battery reachs full or over 95% for a second or two.
