We just migrated our office to a cisco aeronet (12 3602I series access points) based wifi system. We have two WPA2 secured wireless networks that every single device we've tried is both able to see when scanning and connect to. However, I have the only Z10 in the office, and while it can see all the wifi networks in our building (there are many), it cannot see our new office networks.

I've also tried entering the wifi connection information manually, and it will not connect. I have a Z10-US-Tmobile, with OS 10.1.0.4200.

I've restarted both the devices and the access points multiple times, but still nothing. Any advice?

    Thanks.

For both a slight bump and for more info.... You z10 does connect to other wifi systems without any problems? An official version of 10.2.xxxx is not available yet for your device?

Yes, both are correct. It connects to other networks just fine, and 10.2 is officially not available.

I'd at least know where to start if it just couldn't connect, but it's baffling that it doesn't even list the networks as available.

Your routers software needs to be updated. Have your iT people check it out; if they care

Hmm, thanks. Any chance you know what specifically the update would do? It would help narrow down the problem, which seems to be specific to the Z10.

As a side note and to further add to the mystery, I pulled a Q10 out of storage and turned it on. It connects just fine with the same OS.

    They float around to find the clearest channels. I think I've seen 11, 6, 1, in 2.4GHz and 40 , 116 in 5GHz.

I can see channel 116 not being found, as its a DFS channel and can often go offline if it thought it heard radar. I do not know if the phone is even certified for 5.5 band. When I look at the settings in Wifi analyzer (port from android), it doesn't have those channels selected, whether that is from probing the driver or simply app defaults, I don't know. See if you can confirm what channel its on using another device, and then see if you can find it using Wifi Analyzer or something. As a port, you'd need to be on 1055 for it to work half effectively. Older builds wouldn't work so well.

When trying to enter manually, remember the SSID is case sensitive. Try removing any old entries you have for that SSID. Sometimes it won't connect to my Connectify laptop AP until I delete and allow it to find again.

So, for future reference, the problem was solved. The access points were set to announce that they offer WPA and WPA2 security, although only WPA2 was configured. Our Z10s (and no other devices!) apparently saw this and refused to list them as available networks, or when manually entered, refused to connect. The Q10s had no issues. We turned off WPA on the APs and the SSIDs immediately showed up in the wifi setup list as available networks.

Thanks for posting the resolution. It certainly might help someone in the future.
