Hardware? Whichever one works in your area the best, so check which bands are supported by your carrier.

Software? 10.2.0.1791, at the moment.

I believe its about hardware...
If you want LTE... go for Stl100-2 or 3
If you stay in a place you don't have / need LTE...STL100-1 is good.

I second that, 1791, I've had 2 days of battery life. I ca sideload Google maps and and I don't have to mess with runtimes. Very stable on my tmobile without any issues at all.
