    Hey Guys,

I was just experimenting with a Fii0 E17 with my Z10. I noticed that the Z10 shows on the screen 'line out volume' when it is connected to the E17 through the 3.5 mm jack, and 'headphone volume' when connected directly to headphones. Is this really true that the Z10 will switch between the two functions? I am wondering if the phone is really smart enough to output line level quality audio when it detects it is not connected to headphones. Very cool if it is true!

Of course, I am waiting for USB Host support so I can plug my Z10 directly to the E17 over USB instead! But for now, the Z10 + E17 over 3.5 mm jack sounds mighty fine.

Thanks for the update and I'm not positive, but I believe it does auto switch...

PS... Are you using Neutron as a player? or built in BB player?

I'm using the built in BB player. I wanted a separate amp to drive my headphones better. I compared Ultimate Ears Triple Hifi 32 impedance and sennheiser HD280 pro 64 impedance headphones direct on the Z10 and with the e17->Z10 setup. The e17 drives both headphones better. Surprisingly though the sennheisers did hold their own direct to the Z10. I did not hear as drastic (though still notable) a difference as with the UE Triple Hifi's. With some tweaking on the EQ on the e17, the sound, to me at least, is amazing.

I appreciate all of the information. I have FLAC files on an sd card and I am using the Neutron player. Just ordered the E17. Can't wait!!!

I just noticed this today when I plugged in my Z10 to the Bose we have in our TV room. The first thing that threw me off was that it didn't give me the 'you're gonna go deaf' warning.

    Pretty sweet:

This is amazing! Thank you very much for the information.

I just recently put my E17 up for sale as I switched from an iPhone to BlackBerry. I had no idea the Z10 had a Line-Out. I thought I have to get the FiiO X3 as PMP but now I will just keep the E17.
I can confirm that the sound quality is indeed very high with the default application. Sadly without gapless playback, though.

Cheers to my fellow hifi enthusiasts. I am using the InEar StageDiver 2 and 3 (two-way and three-way systems). With E17, power is even capable enough to power my 600 ohms heavy DT880.

Does anyone know what the difference in voltage is between line out and headphone gain say at maximum level? I'm not used to seeing a line level output that is adjustable. I just got a Fiio E06 and have started playing around. I'm a long-time Neutron user and also wondering if this automatic "switch" between line and headphone out happens in the background while using Neutron.

Sheesh, every time I think I'm done with my Z10 I discover something new and awesome. If I bricked my Z10 today, I'm pretty sure I'd get another one even over the Z30, it's just that perfect for my needs.
