Not sure if anyone knows the answer to this... but why doesn't RIM/BlackBerry sell their phones through their company website like Apple? Instead they just do it through a retailer?
Apple does both and they have had more success.

Apple has people lining up worldwide to huh their stuff. BlackBerry does not. Like other manufacturers they need to rely on the carriers for distribution.

Maybe because BlackBerry only has limited items for sale. Apple has so many products they can support a retail arm

    C'mon... was that necessary?

One advantage Apple has is its ability to stick its stores with more than just phones.

ETA: Silverbullet said it better than I did.

Apples business mode l is what companies dream about, its not easy to create that hype, for bb to deal direct with consumers would be a costly venture, they are better off currently not going that route

I think in time, BlackBerry will sell unlocked phones from its website. Google don't rely on the carriers with their Nexus line.

BlackBerry does have a store in Atlanta BUT none in Canada.. Remember tho, Apple has computers, ipods, iPhones, iPods & more. They are able to support retail stores & sell the phones like that. BlackBerry can do the same BUT ONLY when the Q10 comes out & the new BlackBerry tablet WHEN it comes out. ( if it does).

Are you referring to the airport store? Is that store still open?

Yes it is. I was in Atlanta a few months ago. It was still open & selling products.
