I'd love to upgrade to a Z30, but as I'm on AT&T, my understanding is that I would be unable to utilize LTE. Is this true? If so, that would be a deal breaker for me.

The security underscore and need for more Blackberry use is ramping up and more and more people are understanding. Marketshare will rise if anyone cares at all about using a smartphone. There is no excuse not to buy a Blackberry now!
I believe most people are complacent with security on their phone. It's rarely the selling point of a phone. What's worse is even companies and corporations are feeling the same. I don't think security concern will affect the consumers market. As for companies and corporations, until they get caught compromising customers data, nothing will be done about it.

I think it's as simple as this; the z10 was a magnificent failure for BlackBerry. Heaps of unsold units, poor sales, constant reporting of battery life issues, overheating issues, etc. The z10 is a scar on the company name.

Don't forget, pricing. BlackBerry needs to get off the meds and realize they can't initially charge, at least in the consumer market, $600 for hand set.

Very few consumers will spend that kind of coin on a BlackBerry.

Again I say... that's due to the marketing... how may of those are actually profitable... while the most profitable phone for last 5-6 yrs has been 4" or less.

    Posted via CB10
No, it's not "just marketing". The HTC One, the Sony Experia Z, and the Galaxy S4 all have/had smaller variants with the same spec that didn't sell anywhere near as well.

...What would be great is if BlackBerry allowed their operating system to run on phones from other hand-set makers.

    Now that would be killer.

BlackBerry has repeatedly said they'd love other handset makers to license BB10. Do far nobody's been interested.

No. They all want android as platform and are keen on paying the fees to Microsoft for using it.

I had it too. Just went the Z30 road and decided to stop dreaming. I actually like it better than the Z10 now.
I actually wanted to get Z30 when I lost my Z10, but the absolute lack of demand in Indonesia increases the price (because they need to indent instead of ordering in big batches, wrap your head around that paradox) and it's out of my reach, so I settled for another Z10

Not having LTE would be deal breaker? Really?

I hardly use my Z10 in LTE now so I don't fly through my battery. HSPA and HSPA+ networks are plenty fast at least in Canada. Think about all the other great features the Z30 might offer other then network speed.

... I mean a phone is a phone after all. If you want a camera, buy a camera. I dont think my clients or the people I work with want me to get a different phone...

Must be a Gen X and Y thing, because for this market, a phone is not just a phone at all. That's only true in flip phone era. This market uses phone as a mini computer(making PowerPoint an hour before presentation), a multimedia device, a tool(think gps, translator). We're given unlimited calling upgrade for free, and we hardly use 100 min in a month. But text messages is more like at least 500-600 in a day. Nobody in this generation is going carry a separate camera, garmin gps, a boom box, a dictionary, a calculator and a computer everyday.

I wish Z10 and 30 had a baby. It would have USB OTG, Miracast, bigger battery (2800mah at least) and a better word processing app (it's a garbage compare to online word processors).

I think it has been mentioned. They, BB, needs to make money. They need to know that a phone, whatever model or improvement, will actually sell. They will certainly be reluctant to chance additional market flops.

Just because a million or so, if anywhere near that many, folks want an improved Z10 does not necessarily reflect that they will make money on such a product.

Hopefully, their marketing and research folks can figure out what will sell and be popular.

If it looked anywhere near as sexy as the bold 9900 they probably could. Forget the model number but the one with the leather back cover was drool worthy as well.

FYI only the xperia z has a smaller variant with the same specs ( with the exception of the screen of course). And like I said pretty much only Samsung makes money off their over sized phones. Motorola and apple but make huge profits of small pocketable devices that is powerful enough for get the job done.

Yeah no need to rush it. Forget the competitors. Wait until next year when every phone competition is rocking 4gb of memory and 6-core CPU.

6 core CPU is useless if the app can't make use of more than 1

Battle Nations is utterly ridiculous on Android, GT-N7000 can't run it well (long response time, stuttering graphics) and that thing has less units on screen than a major battle of Age of Empires
