9900 was a big let down because of the camera.. and i thought RIM would make a better camera this time. Seriously, the new OS is cool but the camera will make me think twice.

No phone camera can step to a digi cam.And well nokia own the phone camera game.Its a strange one some pictures come out good others sucked.The video's were good though.

Not comparing it to any digital camera, just other phones. Some pictures took by iphones on the web are amazing. My 1st gen iphone even takes better pictures than 9900. I guess i will stick with my 9900 for a bit longer until the real user reviews come out.

This. But in order to woo customers you have to bring something better to the table. What good is the time-shift feature if the camera takes crap photos.

Gorilla glass is over rated anyway because even iphones get fine scratches over time. A film protector will do the job just fine.

As for the hardware parts of the bb10, my guess is that RIM will sell the hardware department so they can care less about the spec, as the rumor suggested. Dual core CPU and 8MP camera are out dated spec, comparing to devices that were launched last year, such as HTC Butterfly, Samsung S3 or iphone 5

Dual core Processor is fine and the 2GB RAM is great. Blackberry need to get the experience right and a spec war with Android is going to get them nowhere.

A crap camera with nifty software is just a NO. Camera's have become an integral part of the mobile experience and not being up to industry standard is inexcusable.

I dont know. Most reviews are sayings its not. It is a big deal considering most new phones on the market have it and it does work.

I used an S3 and it took better pictures then what were shown there... So I am not really going to base the camera quality off of this test for the Z10 pictures. Just my opinion.

Indeed. Very disappointed with the camera. All talk. Sure, it has nifty features, but the camera quality is also a big deal when purchasing a phone - in my opinion. If only there was a phone with BB Z10's keyboard and with iPhone 5 or Lumia 920's camera. I'd be in heaven.

also to the posters talking about gorilla glass. its just a product with a name. bb-bmore has got it right. i've seen many iphones that have seen better days.

If it can take up close pictures of text in a well lit place then I will be overjoyed.

The camera on the 9000 and the 9810 are AWESOME. I am sad to hear that folks think the camera is not up to par with the models of the past. I hope to see a detailed picture thread started up soon.

In good light the camera on the 9800/9810 is quite good. Also by playing with the settings, there is zero shutter lag. I look forward to comparing.

So far iPhone 3GS, 4s and 5 have the most usable cameras with very good image quality.

The camera on the 9800 has always been pretty good for me, and I use it, a lot. Auto-focus doesn't always work right away.
Haven't tried the 9900's camera, but I doubt the Z10 is going backwards with it's camera...

The comparison pics that Kevin posted are rough. It hurts me to see BlackBerry, especially a new one off the bat, be the underdog in every shot he posted in contrast. I don't see why they would need to stray much from the 9000 or 9810 cameras.

lol I hear that. I mean- there is no question that a ZED 10 will be in my hands when it can be but I don't know . . . . I may be keeping my 9810 around as well as backwards as that sounds for both of us to say lol
