Dear all, i need help with my new Z10 which I have about one week.

I installed some apk files via amazon store or directly from sites. I also installed some applications using Apk Extractor on my second android device and simply moved apk files via bluetooth to my BB Z10.

    Everything was fine until yesterday.

But suddenly I cant install any android apk files. All apk files are grayed and system reports
    " unable to open xxxx.apk file ".

Same problem when im trying to install any apps from amazon, or snap.

I did not apply any system update last week. I rebooted device several times. Also my " other sources " settings is ON.

    my SV is 10.2.1.3062

Any idea please ? thanks a lot

(sorry for my english,im not a native speaker)

Did you activated BlackBerry Safeguard? If yes you are required a Internet connection or the app won't install.

Not a OS reinstallation... A hard reset. Try pressing down and holding the volume-up and volume-down keys simultaneously until you see the BlackBerry logo appear; then release... Once the device comes back on, try installing the .APK files again.

To make sure you are allowed to install "outside apps" open main Settings. Scroll or find App Manager and tap it. At the bottom of the list, see Installing Apps. Tap it and check your settings.

    Good luck

Same thing just happened to me on my Z30 on OS 10.3.1. Was thinking it's because i played around with app ops on the android 4.3 runtime, but some apps install just fine and others won't install anymore. Don't want to go through a wipe and restore again

I have the same problem on my Z10, but (so far) only with the Vivino app. I am unable to install any version of the Vivino app on my phone. This issue started after I upgraded the OS from 10.3.1.1154 to 10.3.1.2072. Also, the issue persists after I upgraded the OS to 10.3.1.2243. Before OS .2072, I was able to install Vivino and run it on my phone. I do not have this issue with my other Android apps.

Here's what i did, i backed up my Z30 via link and did a security wipe. Once wiped i tried to install the apk without doing a restore and it worked fine, so i figured problem solved. I then went ahead and did a full restore and the problem came back, couldn't re-install the same apk which was working fine prior to the restore. After some testing i came to the conclusion that the blackberry runtime was corrupted so i either had to run on a clean install or restore a non corrupted blackberry runtime. Running clean was out of the question because i needed to restore the blackberry runtime in order to get my clash of clans village back. Luckily i had an older backup which was from my Z10 so i wiped my device again and did a custom restore to just restore the blackberry runtime and clash of clans. From there i just installed everything manually and i no longer have any problems with those apk files.

Thanks. That sounds promising. What software did you use to backup and restore the runtime?

Blackberry link, just chose custom restore and under applications make sure "blackberry runtime" is ticked along with your android apps. Make sure you're running the latest version of blackberry link as well.

It's easy to fix. Just download and install sys.installhandlerUI from sachesi. It worked for me!
