WhatsApp has nothing to do with you buying a Priv. They don't care what you buy as long as whatever it is, it's a device that can use WhatsApp. Not updating the software won't do anything for you either, they can just disable access server side for BB10 devices.

I believe snap was reference to say you can install the android version. I personally don't use the app and don't have friends or associates that have asked me to use the app so can't comment.

I use BBM, and plain old texting

Thats what they are doing right now. Eventually, though, everything that is not updated breaks and people will be very upset that they had no notice and ended up losing crucial message, lost contact with, just bought a new phone...blah...blah...blah. This way there is plenty of warning that if you need to get a new phone at upgrade time and it shouldn't be a BlackBerry 10 device. There is no obligation on anybody's part to support your discontinued platform with their app just because you like the UI.

After 31 December, all of us had already been using iPhone 6, iPhone 6+, S7 Edge, Redmi, or any others name it. We got 5 month to decide which new device to buy.

Who knows within this 5 month, WhatsApp change their mind following the 10.3.3 update. ;-)

The priv is probably the most expensive (for what you get) Android phones around. If you don't want a physical keyboard I don't see any reason to even consider it. That is after considering all of BlackBerry's claims for better security and looking at the specifications and evidence.

Indeed, but they are still Android phones. If BB10 is no longer an option, all Android phones would still be at the bottom of my list. Other people see things differently, obviously. If Android was my next choice after BB10 rapid patching would be a definite plus. So that would be a Nexus device, BlackBerry or a Google built phone if they go ahead with that. But for me personally they would have to convince me that Android is a better choice than Apple or Windows Phone.

Yes, the transition to the Blackberry android it is unpleasant for me. Blackberry OS 10 very much. But if it happened, would have to take the next phone on android. Of course, I would like to Priv, but for the price very dear to me in Russian. It will be hard to forget the hub.
