For text message notification, anything longer than a quick "bing" sound is annoying. Especially for people around you who have to listen to it.

Mine is a howling Chewbacca; it's been my text notifier for years. When I get multiple texts, it sounds like a family of wookies is trying to escape my pocket.

Email notifier has always been the old OS sonar sound.

What is sad is the realization that some BlackBerry users do not realize that notifiers or ring tones are only limited by the music or sounds you download.

Hearing the voice of HAL gets the attention of strangers every time I get a new email. As for the ringtone, I was sick of my mobiles signaling me with such urgency that I had a phone call that for a while I simply had it muted and vibrating. Then I found Steven Sharp Nelson's Cello Suite and thought, "Ahhhhh, that's the gentle prompt I want."

Loooooong story short... my daddy has been an Old Spice guy for as long as I can remember. I smell it anywhere and it immediately brings me happy memories.

Now I can use this tone for special people to have another opportunity for those memories to come flooding back...
