    Hi everyone,
I got my Z10 yesterday but the battery isn't performing well at all. Im with at&t so it instantly downloaded the 10.1.0.2019 update.
Can anyone give me any tips or post a link that will direct me to the right place?

Example of what im dealing with.. I lose about 20% of my power in 30 minutes..

Keep your brightness low. Below 30%.
    NFC / Bluetooth off.
    Use wifi when available.
    LTE off.

Go to Settings ->Display and turn off "Allow Gestures When Locked". You'll have to hit the lock button and then unlock your phone, but then it saves a lot of juice.

Don't keep many active frames open. Only the ones you need.

Also do a security wipe once. Helped me improve my battery performance.

And since your device is new, give the battery some time to settle down. Mine took about a week. Had the phone running down to 0 battery in like 5 hours.

I easily get 12+ hours on it. Moderate use.

Oh. LTE takes up a lot of battery. I don't use an LTE device, so I can't help you with that.

There are a lot a way to improve your battery life, like some mentioned above.

But most of users that comes here with the same question, just find out that the first days they get the phone, the battery drain faster. (why? It's not clear. For sure your will playing with it almost all time with screen always on, download lot of stuff, lots of data synching...)

Allow a couple of days and reevaluated your battery performances.
Meanwhile, if you can afford, turn off unused features (NFC, bluetooth, wifi,.
), and Tweek out your brightness and frequency of your mail synching...

In reference, the battery on my Z10 last around 12-16 hours with kind of heavy use. Wifi, bluetooth, NFC, LTE always ON. With all email services in push mode

Great, thanks for the info. I'll give it some time to settle down. What does it mean to condition the battery?

One thing I highly recommend is keeping the sync push mail frequency to a large time interval...like two hours or so, so your phone doesn't burn do much battery receiving mail.

I had one of the initial 10.2 leaks, and the battery life was phenomenal. I put in Z10STL100-3/10.1.0.4543 for the wifi calling, and it absolutely rapes my battery, much like the previous 10.1 leaks.

Yea sorry about that, I wasn't sure if you reverted back because of the "raping" of your battery.

Make sure to delete the eBay app if you have it installed. It is very buggy and drains battery within a few short hours. Everyone on this forum has confirmed this. Make sure to sign out of it before deleting the app. Best of luck!

no 10.2 was phenomenal on my battery, this new OS sucks for battery life, but it has wifi calling, so i need to deal with it. i've been looking forward to UMA/Wifi calling since this phone was released.

    Welcome!

    I'm on AT&T too.

The z10 has amazing radio technology, but this is double edged - what you get in speed, you pay for in drain on your battery. Turning off data services turns off LTE. Once you get your wifi networks set up, your Z will connect whenever you're in range. LTE was the biggest drain for me. I use it about an hour a day now, when in transit.

Also turn off location services except when needed. That's also a bit expensive power-wise.

Finally, give your phone a week or so to settle. It's doing a lot as it gets to know you and sets itself up. Every time I have tried a new OS version, battery life has suffered for a few days.

Good luck! You're going to love your Z.

Nfc and blue tooth off.. gestures when locked off, turn mobile network to 2G/edge, set email calendar and contact sync to 24h, use wifi whenever u can, location services off, don't run android apps and if you really really want to save battery turn your data off

Maybe letting your phone run a full battery cycle and let it die, just once. And charging it to 100% and see how long it runs. I'm on the 10.2 leak and at first it lasted for a good 8 hrs or so, until I let the battery die completely and recharged it to 100%. Now this thing lasts atleast 12 hrs with normal use.

As it's been mentioned on almost every battery Z10 thread on CB...the OS is learning you. From the way you type, to where your fingers land on the keyboard to syncing of your contacts with FB, Twitter, LinkedIN etc. All of this is happening behind the scenes and uses battery power.

When you hear people use the term "let the OS settle" that's what they mean.

I used to have the same issues but after a few weeks you'll see battery life improve.

I've gone from 4 hrs at first to about 6 hours and now I'm well over 10-12 depending on use.

The amount of time the phone is on your hand being used also makes a difference. Some people think they are heavy users when in fact they are not.

There are also small setting changes you can make. Like in accounts you can turn off Find Friends in FB Twitter and LinkedIN as it searches your contacts from time to time if they have any of these accounts. This will cause more battery use behind the scenes. If you dont need it turn it off. Same with NFC and blue tooth and diagnostics.

It's not going to have perfect battery life right out of the box and it's all these small features of BB10 that make it better than iPhone or Android IMO.

I wonder if there is a way to quantify the improvements in battery life with each tweak, so that we can pick and choose our sacrifices. Of course, some of it will be extremely variable like LTE, because that will depend a lot on signal strength in your part of town. But surely things like turning off swipe to unlock can be quantified, no?
