It's "hacking" an android device in order to do whatever you want with it, instead of being limited to what Google and the manufacturer allow you to do. Essentially.

Like jailbreaking an iPhone.

But our runtime can't be rooted, so maybe it's a false-positive from the app.

Thank you, false positive looks like probable cause. Glad the phone can't be rooted by using 1Mobile Market or Snap.

a rooted phone is one with an unlocked bootloader, the term is generally res0erved exclusively for android devices, allowing you to replace the supplied os with an os ( or parts of multiple os'es of your choice. Its not the same as a jailbroken iphone and as others have mentioned, you cannot ( well this might not technically be true but it is operationally ) root a blackberry.
