Default what does the 4g icon mean?

Does the Z10 have an LTE icon?

I see a 4g icon in the top right corner but never see LTE. Does 4g = LTE?

No. You're not getting LTE data. Please see pages 40 and 41 of the BlackBerry Z10 Smartphone User Guide here:

The icons are also depending on which carrier you use,.. carrier branding... and which OS version you use.
Not much to do with capabilities - just the icons...

some networks try to promote LTE as 4G, whilst most of us know that 4G networks don't really exist yet,
and other networks promote HSPA as 4G ... just to confuse us all...

on some BB10 OS versions you will see H instead of 4G, which is more correct, since the standard used would then be HSPA, or H+ for HSPA+
LTE and LTE+ IS and will never be - anything else than LTE.. never 4G,.. (AT&T are you listening?)

Thanks for the guide that really helped. Looks like I'm looking for 4GLTE to ensure I'm on the fastest network connection.
