I have the same problem. No apps to update. Battery has been pulled a couple of times.

Why pull battery for that? It goes away after a while by its self.

Try rebooting your hub.

It's common. Hopefully will be fixed in the next update. BB World notifications are pretty flakey ATM.

I noticed when I was using my PC to view Blackberry World that some of my apps in the "Available" section had updates for them. So even though they are not installed, I think you still get the notification for them.

Mine went away after a force close (holding the X). But I also tried to clear the cache, so I don't know which it was...
