Am I the only one that is getting the error message about plugging with the charger that came with the phone? I am using the charger plug and cable that came with my new device (VZW Z10). Is this normal?

I am getting it to. It says something like "To charge faster, use the charger that came with the device. ACK". What does ACK mean?

There is probably something wrong with either your data cable or your charger cube. BlackBerry since the OS 7 phones uses the data lines to tell what type of charge source it is connected to. If it does not get the right signal on the data lines, it does not know if it is a proper charge source and defaults to a lower current draw like may be on a PC usb port. You will get this error too if you connect to chargers designed for Apple devices.

Bring your charger and cable into your cellular provider and see if it gets the same error on one of their BlackBerry chargers. If it doesn't get them to replace your charger and cable. If it does, there is a problem in the phone. Make sure they are using proper BlackBerry chargers, not just some generic one they may have under the counter.

Is this with your BlackBerry charger or one made for an iPhone?

No, it's the one that came in the box. I get the same message or if I plug into other OEM BlackBerry cables and charger plugs.

So, you have a VZW Z10, and don't get the same message?

The only time I don't get the message is when I plug it in with the charger that came with my PlayBook.

I get this notice a lot on my Z10. There's definitely an issue here. I get the message when I used the supplied charger OR my PlayBook charger.

I also notice that my Z10 takes way too long to charge. I just had it plugged in for 5 hours the 1.8A playbook charger and it only showed a 50% charge. I plugged it in when it got into the red.

Last night it was plugged in the whole time using the supplied charger and it did not reach 100% charge.

Today I'm only getting about 4 hours of use before the battery is drained. That's 4 hours in my pocket occasionally checking email. No other apps running. Something is definitely wrong.

I rarely use the charger that came with my Z10, but my PlayBook charger gets it fully charged in about 45 minutes

What OS version are you on?

I'm on 10.0.10.85. Both chargers work perfect for me. Thinking is OS related.

I get this message with the PlayBook charger and the charger that came with the phone. It still charges with either one so I'm not to worried. I have a VZW z10 so it could even be software related. It charges fully and quickly....all that really matters to me.

I don't get this message at all, now I have a Roger's Canadian release z10. I use my Playbook charger exclusively because of the reason above. The unit is fully charged in 45 minutes.

My Z10 refused to charge (after I tried to charge it with my storm charger) one day. I removed the battery, put it back, then charged it again with the one comes with the phone and it worked.

I already have my phone for 7 weeks and it has been great. No reboot and the battery is easily more than 12 hours at moderate use.

Something is for sure wrong if it's taking that long to charge.

Mine will get from 0 to 85-90% ish in about 1 hour. The last 10% seems to take like 45 mins though, for some reason. But overall, only 50% in 4 hours is crazy. I usually use the Playbook charger, but the supplied charger seems to be quick too (although not as quick as the PB charger).

I have also used a charger from my 9780, that thing is pretty slow. But still faster than 50% in four hours. And irrespective of what charger I use, I have never seen that message/warning....

I get this when using my PlayBook charger or when charging from my computer. I love how the message says it'll charge faster with the supplied charger rather then my PlayBook charger... the PB charger is a beast compared to what came with the phone... fastest I've used thus far

The PlayBook charger is the only charger i use. I have two and they work better, fit tighter, and charge faster. I will use them as long as possible and even then I'll probably just buy more of the same

The reason I brought this up was that I suspected that it was an OS thing. Verizon is sitting at 10.0.9.xxx while everyone else is sitting north of 10.0.10.xxx. I wanted to confirm that by seeing if I was the only one (if not, possibly a hardware issue).

In Canada, the original OS released in Feb was leaking when the Z10 was released... there was an upgrade to 10.0.10.85 in early March where 60 battery savings improvements were made...since then the performance has been very good...

Also...one should look at the code on the Battery Charging Cube to confirm the rating...

PSA: Don’t Charge Your BlackBerry 10 Device With Old Chargers (Amperage) - BerryReview

With BlackBerry 10 the folks at BlackBerry are recommending at least a 750mA charger to consistently charge the BlackBerry Z10. This is because Chargers supplying less than 750mA may not provide enough power to sustain a charge on the device during heavy use.

The Playbook Charger is a Fast Charger and appears to work well...as it is double the charge at 1.8A

The above article is a MUST READ for all BB10 users..In my opinion...
