Volume buttons and profiles
Its a bit of an annoyance really. I have the Microfiber slide case yet when I have the z10 in the case my volume keys will change the system volume if knocked. I was pretty sure on my last device this never happened. The same applies if it just locked. Is there not a way of preventing this?
Also how do I set the vibrate only profile as the default if I click the profiles button on the slide down menu. At the moment it defaults to normal and silent. And when I am at work I prefer vibration. - 02-26-2013, 11:26 AM #3
When in normal, go to notification profiles in setting and set to vibrate only. Now when you press the profile icon from the quick menu it will alternate between normal and vibrate.
Additionally there is a master system volume which is unaffected by your volume rockers. They are for music and movies etc. Only affects system volume when you press beyond mute and it switches sound profile.

+1 for annoyance of having the volume either change profile or volume every time I put it the phone in the sleeve pouch, here's hoping for a software fix to disable the volume keys when switching off display or something, single most annoying "Feature" thus far on an awesome phone

Right I did wonder why it kept resetting. So as long as I don't go beyond that point that switches it to silent it will remember that I want to use vibrate.
And if there is no work around for the volume keys still working when locked or in a case then I really hope they patch it. - 02-26-2013, 12:02 PM #6
I feel your pain, I have the red pouch and the sound level fluctuation with the pouch is annoying. I used my Apple ear pods to just control the volume when listening to music. I got a Poetic blue z10 case and that combo didn't fit in my pouch so I said bye bye to the pouch.
Oh and yes, it shouldn't reset, at least it hasn't for me unless I do a phone restart.

Yup, it's very annoying. Temp fix is to download Hub++ which is a paid app. One of its features is that you have to hold down the volume keys for a longer period of time to change the volume.

I hope it doesn't take as long to fix this bug. I remember on my last BlackBerry device it taking rim months to fix a glitch with the text messaging system. But now that I know I am not alone in this it makes me a bit easier. I was all set to walk into phones 4 u and give them a chewing over this lol.

For clarity the volume keys just seem way too sensitive, when you place phone in sleeve it will depress the down volume and effectively reduce to vibrate or mute, what we are all hoping for is a software fix to disable volume keys when you power down display... so the volume and or profile can't inadvertently be changed just by placing the phone in its protective sleeve
