Default Video Chat With Playbook and Z10 Question?

Ok i was able to Video Chat from my playbook to my Z10 phone by dialing from the Video Chat on the playbook using my @blackberry.net email address np's, just don't get the devices to close or you get that ringing buzzing sound cause they are on same account, but anyways back to my question and point is it works awesome.

Both are on WIFI of course.

Now my question is how do i connect from Z10 to Playbook as i tried to do a chat to the playbook using my @blackberry.net address, but even when it said it sent it actually sent to my Z10, but only the led light flashed for 1-2 secs and no notification, so basically the playbook got no notification to accept anything.

It appears video chat is to phone devices from playbook will work, but from phone to playbook it will not, please correct me if i am wrong and please tell me or show me how to do from Z10 to playbook.

This would be nice as my kids can have playbook outside and i could then video chat from Z10 to playbook, but i can't find how to do so.

You may have to change the BBID that is associated with the PlayBook in order for this to work.

Actually there is no Video Chat option in BBM, well only if your already chatting with someone, but there is no naitive video chat program like the playbooks.

If you want to be able to do this properly you need have a different bbID on the playbook then you have on the Z10 as far as I know.

I have 2 Z10's and 2 playbooks.. 1 Z10 and one playbook with my wifes bbID and one of each with mine.. I can call from either my Z10 or my playbook to either my wifes Z10 or her playbook and vice versa simply by selecting the video chat option from the contacts list. But I cannot call my own playbook from my Z10.. which makes sense.

If you go into your contacts and add the playbooks email that is used for video chat to a contact it will then show up as "Playbook Video Chat" green if available and grey if not. I have used this many times calling my parents and wife from Z10 to Playbook
    Hope this helps

No as the phone can not dial the playbook video chat even if a new BBID was made for it as i just noted there is no Video Chat option unless your already chatting on the Z10 to a person on BBM, so basically the programs cancel themselves out.

Meaning no BBM on playbook for Z10 to ask to chat/then video chat ................... and theres no video chat program like the playbooks for Z10 to dial to playbook.

SO until BBM comes to playbook i cna only Dial from PB to Z10 not other way thats if i only chose BBM and Video chat as my options.

As long as the Z10 and Playbook dont have the same BBID you can add it to contacts and click on the Green if available "Playbook Video Chat"

No i can't see your image even its the same when i go to the link you provided, but i get what you mean and where.

Now can i Video chat using PIN?

Or does it have to be BBID only and like i said i don't want to change the BBID as its the same for my Z10 and Playbook and i have apps purchased on playbook now and some on Z10.

After testing this over and over, Sadly I do think that you will have to use the bb id and are not able to video chat the same BBID. As it is now both of your devices will ring and which ever device answers the call wins. Hopefully we can see a change in the future.

Everyone has a different perspective.. but to me it's not sadly, and I hope they don't change it.

Yes, it's an inconvenience.. and probably a few bucks lost in paid apps for the OP to create a new bbID for his playbook.. but the fact that his playbook is being shared with others he wants to call puts him in the minority.. As someone who has both a Z10 and a playbook that only I use.. I'm very happy with it the way it is.. if someone wants to call me.. they just call "Me" they don't need to have me in their contacts twice.. they don't need to know which device i'm closest to in order to call me.. they just place the call, both devices ring and I get to decide on which to answer it.

You also have to think about the eventual update to BB10.. at some point that playbook will get BBM, which is also tied to the bbID.. which means the playbook will have the same contact list as your Z10 and messages will appear on both.. that's the way it has to be, for the same reasons mentioned above.. people aren't going to add me to their bbm lists twice and guess which one to message me on.. I need to be able to receive messages on one and continue the conversation on the other.. Blackberry is aware of this, and that's why it's done this way. Are you going to want your kids having acess to your BBM list, seeing all of your conversations and having the ability to interject into them? If the answer is no, then by that point you are going to have to bite the bullet and give that playbook it's own bbID for them to use.. might as well just get it over with now me thinks!

Going forward the bbID has to be thought of as "per person" not "per device" and not "per family" whether you use the same bbID on mutiple devices depends completly on how that device is used. Now that said.. for a device like the playbook I wish the bbID didn't have to be put in at setup and need a device wipe to remove.. it would be nice to see the ability to change it on a per session basis.. in other words even though you only have one playbook for the family, each member could have their own bbID and log into the device get their own contact list etc, then log out, pass it to someone else who could then log in with their own bbID. - That isn't possible as of now, but it's a good idea for the future.
