Would a Z10STL100-4 work on att in the USA?

My daughters bday is coming up soon and she wants a smartphone. My plan is to get her a Z3 IF it comes to US in time. If not I am looking at backup options as I have the Z10 and Z30 on Verizon. I switch sim between the two.

The reason I ask is her line and my wifes is on AT&T.

Will not work, I speak from experience! I had a VZW z10 and got 3g in town on att which on my att z10 I get LTE.

Head over to the market place there are usually good deals on z's. There is an att one for $160 right now.

Not to sound dense but, it will get 3g but not LTE? The speed is not that huge of a deal as she would be using it 99% as a wifi device and 1% texting. She hates talking on the phone. I know strange girl lol.

It will work with an AT&T SIM, but it will be limited to voice/text and 2G/3G data. (ie up to EDGE, but no HSPA or LTE)

If you mainly want to voice/text and use WiFi, it might be fine.

OK cool. Guess I will talk my wife into letting me take her AT&T sim out of her S3 after work today and see how it goes.

Before it is asked. I checked here first because it is just as easy to get my wifes phone out of her hand as it is to get my Z30 out of my hand.

    Thank you two.

Not sure about the Z10, but the Z30 gets H+(4G) on AT&T, So wouldn't the Z10 also get 4G? it uses the same bands as the Z30.

My question would be why are you on different carriers? Probably be cheaper to have the family plan on one. Easier too.

When we got together she had att and I had Verizon. Can't talk her into Verizon and I will not give up Verizon. Simple lol

Let's us know how it worked out. I heard the Verizon model is unlocked but the data speeds wouldn't be as good.

Verizon uses CDMA and AT&T uses CSM. Not compatible networks.

    Cell phone networks, GSM, CDMA

The Z30 has a completely different radio design than the Z10. The Verizon Z10 is very crippled on networks outside of Verizon's.

The Verizon Z30 on the other hand does get HSPA on AT&T. It does not generally get LTE on AT&T though there are occasional reports of this working, probably has to do with certain LTE network expansion AT&T is doing in particular areas. (ie Chicago, apparently)

I understand completely about not wanting to give up Verizon. My wife had AT&T when we met but she was always having calls dropped. Finally got her on my plan. All good now.

Yeah I am working on her lol. As to how it works. So far fast test before work. Put her sim in the Z10 and it connects and makes calls. After work today will be data test.
