Just curious if anyone else in BB10 land has experienced higher than normal battery drain as a result of the USA Today App. My phone has been experiencing unusually high battery depletion for a couple days and its been roughly (give or take) about that same time frame that I installed the USA Today App from BlackBerry World. I just uninstalled the app and it "appears" that the high battery usage has subsided, although it's a bit early to tell. I've attached a screen shot of battery usage. Shows usage since 7AM when phone came off the charger. At approximately 11AM I uninstalled the USA Today app and battery level and current draw have straightened out, although it hasn't been all that long yet. Just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this. I will most likely let it run for a few hours this way, and then re-install the app and see what happens.

I'm not familiar with the app as I don't live in the US, but does it have settings for how often it polls for new feeds etc?

The only setting I could find was to enable or disable push notifications, which I had set to OFF, however I was still getting headlines pushed to me a few times a day that would show up under NOTIFICATIONS in the HUB.

I wonder if having push off has the opposite effect.. if the server isn't pushing and the device is still receiving content. Then it's pulling, which is more battery intensive.

I wonder if that is what is causing my battery drain. Just deleted the app. On 10.0, I didn't have a drain. But when I updated to 10.1 (on AT&T), I started having some drain issues. I will let you know if I notice a difference without the app.

Yes please do, gonna let mine run another hour or two and then reinstall the app and see if the drain returns.

I killed that app on my phone while the formatting and such was nice it did horrid things to my battery and I could not stop it from popping notifications.

I've had the app for a while and have encountered no problems. Even have push notifications on.

I just removed my USA app, and I noticed my battery improved a lot.

I didn't notice much improvement (if any). Still think my drain is related to the SD card.

I think maybe I did. I did delete it and I think my battery is better now.

I was tired of the notifications. It considered a lot of things to be breaking news that I didn't care about
