I've been on the fence since the last price drop on the z30. I've had the z10 since launch ( Feb 2013), and i absolutely love it. What I don't love is the battery life and speaker. But apparently the z30 has that!
Do I wait for the passport or snag a z30. The specs on the passport are a lot better than the z30. I've had a bold and don't mind the keyboard, but I began BlackBerry on a storm 1. I'm really torn.

Waiting for a Passport would require you to answer the question, do I want a physical keyboard and a square shaped phone that is phablet size? Or do I want a phone that is all glass and smaller?

The Passport will have all the newest specs so if that's what you are after, then wait. If you want a phone that works now and will be valid for another two years still, get a Z30 and why wait?

But those are decisions you need to make.

I love my Z30. Depends if you can wait for the Passport to be available. Which isn't too long now.

    With Z30 you get:
    1) lower price

    With Passport you get:
    1) Wow factor
    2) physical keyboard (if you into it)

Z30 is excellent phone and I believe that Passport will be too.

So this is question of novelty and keyboard being worth additional $300 to you.

. More than likely I will order it from blackberry store since Bell weren't really interested in getting one in my hands. Is the set up for an unlocked phone easy with Bell? I don't think I can just swap sim cards from z10 to z30, have to look into that. Thanks for the responses.

The Z30 certainly has an amazing battery and great speaker, you might miss the display of the Z10 but you'll have a 'better phone'.

Id suggest you wait for the passport.

Z30 will offer quite a similar experience to Z10. Better to wait for something new.

I was on the edge of switching from my Z10 to the Z30 for quite a while and I wish I hadn't taken so long. The Z30 is far superior to the Z10 and just an all around great device. BlackBerry took the best features of the Z10 and upgraded / fixed all of the shortcomings. Easily the best BlackBerry 10 experience available. I'm sure the Passport will be great, but I'm really sold on the BlackBerry virtual keyboard. Don't think I'll ever go back. You should make the switch. You won't regret it.

How does one hold the passport to an ear to make a phone call?

The Z30 is awesome, but I definitely think waiting for the passport is a better idea. The specs and features of the passport justify the higher price tag compared to the Z30. Both the battery life and speakers are supposedly better on the passport so you really can't go wrong imo

The Passport may be a terrific device but it is in an entirely different family than the Z10 or Z30. Not only is it very differently shaped but it has a real keyboard. It may be an upgrade in certain terms but it is not an upgrade of a full touchscreen device.

That being said, finding a Z30 is now a difficult task. Verizon no longer offers them, at least, not to the common person.

It comes down to the keyboard. I know at one point I said that I would never go back to a physical keyboard. Don't get me wrong..i love my z30. But I'm kinda about having the latest and greatest so I'm picking up a Passport, and when a z50??? Is available I'll be getting that next.

Ya it's going to take a bit of an adjustment to back to the physical keyboard, but I think it's worth it for the specs. Nevertheless, the jump for you from a z10 to a z30 will be mind blowing. Way better battery, way better typing experience (hard to believe) given the larger screen.

I will say when I switched to a z30 from my z10 I did initially have some second thoughts because of the size but after about two weeks I can't see myself going to something smaller. I'm sure I will have the same feeling about the passport...I'll get past that.

    Good luck with your decision.

If you can hold your physical passport comfortably against your ears, then you would feel the same holding a BlackBerry Passport. BlackBerry Passport is about 1/8 of an inch wider than an actual passport.

I made the jump from the Z10 to the Z30, and never regretted it. The Z30 battery is incredible. I'll unplug from charge at 6am, and will plug it back in to charge when I go to bed with still 20% battery left. I'm a heavy user as well. Speakers are 2nd to none. However, if you're considering a keyboard device, the Passport may be what you want. The 2 devices are very different, so it's a matter of preference. I don't think you'll be disappointed with either device. I loved my Z10, but now that I'm with the Z30, I can't see ever going back.

I took my Z30 off the charger at 5:15 this morning. I played Pandora the entire time I was getting ready for work. I have done a moderate amount of message and some light social networking along with some other normalish usage. I'm at 87% as of 12:45pm. Typically when I get home around 6pm, I'm still in the high 70's. Get the Z30; you won't regret it. (10.3.0.1154 is awesome, btw)
