My z10 comes with Os 10.0.0.58. I hear telkomsel my carrier had released the .82 update, so I check for update and I see 97 MB update. Downloaded and installed no problem.

Problem comes when it continues with a 728 MB big download. What the **** is that? That's half of my monthly data plan volume!

I've got past the installation screen for the 97MB one. Can I safely ignore this monstrous data eater? I'm looking at my os info screen and it's still 10.0.0.58 there.

Holy crap, really? Can I just update over BlackBerry Link? I can't figure out how to manually check for update with that software. It says it will automatically check for update, but when?

I think Blackberry Link does pick up updates... I swear I was notified that it was available when I was plugged in via USB... Anyone else care to chime in? Was I dreaming it? If I'm not losing my mind, it was pretty quick, as in same day (for me).

When your phone is connected, click on the tab for it at the bottom of link. If there is an update, it displays there.

Turn wifi on and data off then download it. Don't waste the majority of your months data to d/l the update.

The smaller download was probably a bloatware download all apps that comes pre installed on your Zed. If you deleted any of them because you don't use them the carrier will continue to push them to you stating its a battery improvement update.

That's not correct for Telus at least. I have deleted some "core carrier apps" (linkedin, foursquare, etc) and while Telus does continue to push them back to my device, they dont claim it's a battery improvement update. The update states exactly what it is, Carrier Apps.

If I remember correctly T-Mobile Germany says it is an OS update.

The BlackBerry won't let you download anything over 50mb without asking you before. Actually when you do the update it won't let you go further unless you are connected to a Wifi network. So don't worry about using your data usage. I recently downloaded NOVA 3 it is a 1.6 gb. And BlackBerry didn't let me use my usage

You obviously deleted some of the apps that were already on your Z10. This is what the extra 728MB is. At the moment when any updates happen you will get prompted to reload all these preloaded apps that you deleted. Hopefully BlackBerry will sort something out on this.

BTW: make sure you do it via wifi and don't interrupt the process. Have it plugged into the mains too so power is OK.

Wny turn off data when he is using WIFI? My understanding is that anything downloaded over WIFI doesn't count against one's data plan. Just wondering....
