I just spoke with several people at Verizon and they informed me that the Z10 can not be unlocked. I said they sell this already unlocked already around the world. They stated that yes some Z10's can be unlocked but the Verizon specific Z10 is incapable of being unlocked. I said incapable or Verizon won't do it? Two different things. They said incapable. So does anyone know if this is true?

I don't know and I am skeptical. However, if you use a 3rd party unlocker, that will likely be illegal.

yea if I can 3rd party unlock it, the gov't can suck a big one on it being illegal! That is just a fascist law!

Agreed but there are still way too many good people rotting in state cages because of terrible laws.

Anyway, I don't think anyone outside of Verizon has a STL100-4 model so, no one will have had a chance to test unlocking one.

When I ordered my Z10 directly from the Verizon store, the first question I asked was if the phone would be unlocked. I was told if it were locked once it comes in, they would unlock it when I pick it up. Hopefully this true.

So,,, once you unlock it, where you going to use it? Sprint. Sorry if I'm ignorant but is it a dual-mode phone? If not you can only use on CDMA networks. BTW, t-mo USA has always made unlock codes avail to their customers.

I will use it unlocked with a sim card when travelling to other countries. I do that presently with my Verizon phone, works well.

So, on Verizon, the Z10 is a dual mode phone? OK, just checked myself and it seems to be. Based on past experience with their "roaming partners" if I were you I'd unlock it as well.
