I am using an unlocked AT&T with a different carrier outside US. I also own a factory unlocked z10 which received the 10.2.0.1791 the day it was released.
I am using both phones with the same carrier but the AT&T phone would not update to the latest official release.
I thought once you changed the sim card this would be possible. But apparently not.

did you reboot the z10 after changing sim cards? normally i will turn on with a different wallpaper from the carrier, after that you get in to wifi and check for updates

I did that, and actually got the 10.1 update.
After this installed, I checked for updates again but nothing.

When I swapped my AT&T SIM for my Rogers SIM, the on device update didn't see anything but BlackBerry Link did when I plugged it in. I suggest checking both update methods as one is bound to work with the alternate SIM.

After this installed, I checked for updates again but nothing.

It shouldn't matter how long, all that should matter is your phone is checking in and reporting the different carrier SIM.

How did you unlock your phone?

That is correct, which is why I believe the OP was trying another carrier's SIM.

The previous owner unlocked the device before shipping it to me. I do not know how he did it

When you look at your phone lock status, do all 3 show unlocked like this picture:



I just want to double check and make sure you are properly unlocked.

OK good. That means it is properly unlocked.

Next question is what carrier SIM are you using other than AT&T? It's possible they haven't released the update you are looking g for yet.
When in doubt, download Sachesi and out in your alternate carrier information and model number, and Sachesi will show you what you should be getting.

My carrier is AMC, Albania.
Both my phones, the factory unlocked, and the AT&T one are on this carrier.
The factory unlocked Z10 received the 10.2 update the day it was released being on this carrier.

There were people with factory unlocked phones getting the update on AT&T As well, so I wouldn't count getting it on one phone means the carrier approved it. Check your carrier through Sachesi.

It means you should be able to pull down that OS version with that carrie's SIM card.

My only suggestion to you is to turn on Airplane mode, then turn Wi-Fi, and then shut down the phone. Put in the non AT&T SIM and boot back up. You should see the other carrier's boot screen as a part of the boot up process.

Once filly booted check the software ups are on the phone. If that doesn't work then hook it to your computer via USB and then check with Link. If that doesn't work then give it 1/2 hour with that other SIM card and try both methods again.

If that doesn't work then I am out of ideas of how to update with the other carrier's SIM, and suggest you use Sachesi to update the phone.

I never thought of going through the website to push the update. That's really cool and thanks for sharing.

I also didn't think about the trick in the other option where they recommend disabling location service but that sort of makes sense.

Again thanks for sharing the follow up on how you resolved it!
