Default two or three questions about my new z10

    1) There was a little link I had saved on my old berry that'd take me to a download page (not sure what it's called) where you had to accept permissions and it'd download a whole notification sound bundle from one of my previous phones. I assume that won't work on this one? Am I stuck with only the notifications offered for right now?

    2) How do I password lock my phone? I set my password and set and interval but I can't seem to force lock it.

    3) Is there any application that is simple and I don't have to have open/running/minimzed that'll put a little percentage battery indicator at the top? I used six tools (loved it) but can't seem to find it for this phone.

Only answer I have for you so far is for #2. Hold down the power button for about a second and it prompts you to cancel, lock, or restart.

You can use custom ring tones if they are saved to a sdcard or internal memory tou won't be able t install them as you used to in the past

For number two i just the password lock time to one minute

No app does that on BB10 you can check that via the about page

I would love to bring over SixTools and some of the functions I wrote for it over to BB10 but unfortunately as it stands there aren't enough APIs to do that. Devs don't have access to the bar at the top nor do we have access to run in the background with out having a window open. Running in the background without a window is something BlackBerry just announced today at BBJam Europe, but no time frame.
Wallpaper Changer HD for BB10 A MUST HAVE APP - Automatically rotates your wallpaper - Now with battery % meter, weather and more!
Leave It On - Take control of your backlight, keep the blacklight on for any app you want like Google Maps & BBM, light up with new msgs and pop-up now!
SixTools - The essential app for OS6 & OS7 users
BB10, BBOS &PLAYBOOK games apps, and more!

Wait... The BB10 does not allow apps to sync and "work" unless they are physically launched? That can't be right...

Just for the record here I'm talking about 3rd party apps, not BlackBerry official apps, they are the exception.
Essential, yes. There is a small exception for apps that use a push message server. So as an example lets say there is a messenger app like WhatsApp and its not open, their push server could send a message to your device to notify you that you have a new message. It really sucks that this is the way it is right now. But like I mentioned in my last post at least its on the road map to be added.

See here: Release roadmap - Native SDK for BB10 and PlayBook - BlackBerry Developer it's the first item on the list "Headless apps".

Interesting that there are no other options at this time for 3rd party apps that want to run in the background. Push is to expensive for most 3rd party devs and mostly not always necessary. Pull is mostly needed.

I was hoping you saw this as I thought you made the app. At least there's some good news in there because it would also be nice for my weather network app to show the temperature over the icon without having to have the application active.

These are the ringtones I want. I'd go to this link on all my phones, thanks to the poster, and load these on my phone. Can I do this from my z10? Or can I save them off my 9900 onto my micro sd?

man this is awesome, thanks! so now the only thing that sucks is that i can't have my phone ringer volume differ from the message volume. but now i really only have that to nitpick. not having my old ringers would my biggest downside to the new phone and now it's gone.

How do i delete something from the hub? i don't have my facebook or twitter associated so i can just go to them when i want to in the app and not always get crap in the hub from the two apps but i have a twitter and facebook label in the hub that i can't get rid of, and they're clearly empty.

Ok, didn't want to say anything before I could actually write some code and test it out. There is a catch to it however. But I'll explain that when I'm all done.

What did you do? I don't have a BB10 yet so I am not sure what I am supposed to see. Is it the Battery % ?

    BattBerry

It is free and works like a charm - shows the percentage nice and clear and charging status - leave it running as an active frame and you have it at your finger tips

    https://appworld.blackberry.com/webs...22138/?lang=en

He has a notice in the BlackBerry World description that a change in the SDK results in a message popping up - that should be fixed in an update so don't downvote the dev

Ok done coding. Got it all done in 1 day. This will display the battery % in the top bar and on lock screen.

I'll send a beta out to a few people tomorrow morning. ShaneN. and ealvnv I've got you on the list already. Just looking for 6-7 people to test.
