Just wondering if you can turn off hsdpa as I always seem to be flicking between 3G and hsdpa and I think it might be affecting my battery?

I don't think that would be possible, because I've never seen a phone that had such an option. There is an option to turn off LTE though. To do that, go to settings > Network Connections > Mobile Network > Network Technology

Thanks, I don't have LTE yet but I appreciate the info.

    No, STL100-2
I don't have the network technology option only network mode where I can select 2G or 3G. I am in the UK if that makes a difference.

Do you need to get a new sim card to have HSPAto work or have your carrier turn it on? I have an STL-100-1 and my carrier has HSPA but there is no option on the phone

We'd need to klnow what carrier you are with - it may be that your carrier doesn't allow for users to switch between different types of connections.

Three lock the setting on all their phones because of the way they rent their bandwidth. It costs them extra when their customers use 2G so they can bring their 3G costs down. As such, they take measures to ensure that their customers can't choose 2g only on their phones. But this means not being able to choose any type for yourself.

You're welcome. It's actually the primary reason I left them. You might be able to circumvent this lock out if you install the vodafone update using one of their free sims. I was able to do it using my old 8900 when I was with them by using OS downloads from Crackberry. HSPA seems to be done over some of the old 2G frequencies...so when I use the 3G only option instead of 2g+3g (which is what three locks to), I never get H+. So my suggested solution is to get the voda update and choose 3g only. Hope it works out.
