From what I've gathered, this is a no-go, but I thought I'd ask. I use my blackberry for business only and I had an old Javelin for about 3-4 years before it bricked on me. After some begging and pleading, I convinced the company to get me the Z10

Now, I'm stuck with this issue of my contacts and calendar. Based on what I've read, at this point in time I can't transfer my contacts from that old backup file. No biggie, the contacts and just as important, a constantly updated calendar is on Outlook 2010 on my laptop. I thought I was safe via that route, however, I've read that I need to install some programs on my laptop and open a Live account and some other mess to be able to transfer my contacts and calendar from Outlook to my Z10.

I don't administrative rights on my work laptop. I guess the option I have is of using a gmail account to sync with both outlook and my Z10, that way I avoid double entries. Anybody find a workaround to this?

You can try to use PIM Backup and Restore - BlackBerry World - PIM Backup And Restore

It can easily to help you import your backup contacts (.vcf format) and calendar (.ics) to BB z10 without using any gmail sync.
