Anyone else experience terrible call quality and spotty service with wifi calling on Tmobile? Ever since I lost hardware wifi calling (UMA) on my bold 9700 and moved to the BB10 platform it's never been solid for me.

    Am I doing something wrong?

Most seem to have no issues (check on the tmo thread) currently. There's one guy with a 9900 who was having this issue. Call Tmo support.

I have also had problems with WiFi calling. It isn't as good as UMA. Mostly the problem is that the voice is delayed or slows down.

I agree, terribly unreliable. Sometimes it works great. Other times it drops at random times even with strong Wifi signal. And then there are the weeks on end where it drops at exactly 32 seconds no matter what. It's the only choice when there is no signal tho.

And... you've all called Tmo service? I have WFC on two z10s and an Android, and my wife has UMA on her BBerry. They all work w/o issue. Look at the link I provided.

I had the same issue with calls dropping at 32 or so seconds. I finally did call T-Mobile support and they reconfigured something and there has been no more issues so song as the wifi signal is not extremely weak.

As I said, we use both. Theoretically UMA allows a transition from wifi to cell. Which WFC does not. Honestly, cell reception is so bad here, we've never tested it but I've read conflicting comments on it's effectiveness. It also requires hardware on the phone. When Tmo came out with its first non-uma (Kineto) there were issues. But it did allow them to add WFC OTA, no hardware required. The current version using IMS -- since getting past this last spate of issues -- had been rock solid.

Thanks! I'll have to call Tmo then. It's become clear to me now that some users are not reporting these same issues and are in fact using WFC without any major issues.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that my Z10 came factory unlocked from shopblackberry.com but I'm hopeful it's just a setting that needs to be tweaked.

And yet I may ultimately be forced to go with Cricket Wireless if the Classic and subsequent newer BlackBerry phones don't get WFC. Tmo without WFC is just plain unusable in some areas!

Honestly it wasn't that good when I used it. Dropped calls, lag...it is sold as a feature but in reality it is a bandaid for an inferior network. Particularly if you are relying on lower bandwidth public Wifi when traveling the result will be disappointing.

One of my Z10s is a branded, Tmo, the other Shop Blackberry, unlocked. Both are excellent. What OS are you running?

I uninstalled T-Mo USA Wi-Fi Calling on my Q10. Unfortunately, I can find the app in BlackBerry World but I get the error message "Unavailable for this device." I called T-Mo and Blackberry and asked for help but they were no help at all. So my recommendation is don't uninstall or delete the app. You might not get it back.

Check your settings. My little Dlink handles Netflix, my laptop browsing and WFC is not effected.

    Yes, it's free.

    Depends on router settings. Goto
T-Mobile and get the new Asus
Wi-fi personal cell spot it's free.
Call them and get it setup.
Calling works with 2.4 and 5ghz
    2.4 on most routers.

Hardware wifi calling is depending on device. Only Certain devices have this feature z10 and q10 not sure about others.

You don't need a t-mo pushed router to make wifi-calling work. I have three different routers, works on all and works everywhere including overseas when traveling. As far as phone version Q10 100-5, Z10 100-3 will allow wifi-calling depending on OS.

I said 2.4 and 5ghz bands on the Asus router and 2.4 on most others depends on channels.

The OS is not depending factor if it is an officially released os. I'm on 10.2.1.3442 and Wifi calling works fine. T-Mobile is still two updates behind.

Got it... I'm also on .3442, but the last official tmo release was .2228. I have one branded Z10 and one unbranded. The OS matters as official BBerry releases may not work compared with official Tmo releases. However, there is one 10.3.0 leak that, for some reason (according to users) does allow wifi-calling.

Hey guys, can anyone help me out with setting this thing up?

I can't turn it on for some reason, says 'Disabled'. And I am connected to a wifi network. I've attached a screenshot.

    Edit: I'm using a Z10 STL-1 with OS 10.2.1.3442 with T-Mobile.
