... I picked it up and realized how great it still is. Wasted 2 hours on watching phone reviews and decided to stick to Z10 because of its perfect screen size and efficiency. Maybe the absence of SnapChat got to me. Lol.

Still waiting for the 10.3 update here though, and currently hopeless.

Yeh, it got everything right. Size, display, speed, memory, sound, OS ergonomics and productivity... and now even update to 10.3 (at least on mine, it arrived two days later than for Q5). Couldn't be more happy. Life is good.

The size is really a sweet spot for me. In terms of an all touch phone.

The 10.3.1 update does breath new life into it as well.

Good for you. I took the plunge in November. Went with the LG G3. Nice device. BUT, I still has my Z10 on deck when I'm ready to come back. Hopefully, BBRY has something worth getting soon. If so, I'll be getting that one and getting off Android.

I totally agree - I got my wife a Classic for Xmas (she could not master the virtual keyboard) - and now I have her Z10 for the day if/when my Z10 dies. I won't need a new BlackBerry for a long time!!

You can easily upgrade to 10.3 now by using an autoloader - make a backup (you may still have to do some manual setups and app reinstalls) - but this is a better way than doing an OTA install, and you don't have to wait for your carrier to release it.

Is autoloader as reliable as the official OTA update? If yes then ill update my phone right away!!

And I have a factory unlocked phone so I'm not really dependent on a carrier.

I have been thinking of getting iphone 5s recently. But after the smooth 10.3 update (official OTA), i have decided to stick to my z10 1-2 more years. I just love the 10.3 update.

As sad as it is and as much as I personally don't care, BlackBerry 10 absolutely NEEDS snap chat and instagram. You'll never be able to convince a younger person to switch to bb10 without those apps. People here like to call them "fad" apps but the truth is, they are here to stay.

Yes - actually autoloader is more reliable than doing OTA (if you peruse the various forums, you will see that more people have problems after an OTA update than with autoloaders).

    This is for 3 reasons:

    1) OTA means the very large "package" of OS and apps comes over the carrier network - tonnages of data packets - and any delays in delivery of packets, corruption of packets, etc could cause the OS or apps to not be intact after installation.

2). Doing OTA means the new OS and apps code is written over the existing on device code (think of this as "modifying" the code that is already on the device - not totally accurate description, but I think you will understand) . Because of the huge differences between for example 10.1 or 10.2 and the new 10.3, many problems can surface after installation.

    3) Autoloader (when used in conjunction with using cfp or SIC multiwipe utility first) means your device is totally wiped of the previous OS, apps, and data. This ensures a clean, "like brand new" environment for the new OS and apps to be installed. So now, (given point 2 above), you can see why especially in your case autoloader is definitely better.

I hope this is helpful information.

Instructions on how to use autloaders: http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...l#post11102281

Autoloaders for OS 2267 (the latest available): http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...oaders-995995/

To answer your other question: yes, you will lose data, emails, and apps. There are ways to backup data and apps, then restore them to your device - however, many people have found that doing so (especially when backing up from 10.1 or 10.2, and then restoring to 10.3) causes problems. Many experienced BB10 users (including me) believe that you are better off setting everything up again from scratch - again, especially when moving between branches of OS (10.1 to 10.3)

When you download the autoloader, MAKE SURE you download the correct one for your device. Trying to install the incorrect autoloader will "brick" your phone (not permanent damage, but not something you want to go through).

Will you have to repurchase the apps and games after you wipe and autoload 10.3? Or does blackberry world let u reinstall all that you had purchased before. Do u just backup contacts, emails, texts and all other personal data onto your laptop to reinstall after 10.3 in loaded?

Is 10.3 worth the upgrade or are there bugs?

    Thanks for any help!

I actually switched to a Z30 from a Z10 two weeks ago, and I've switched back. The Z30 is too big and heavy, and I found the screen colour to be odd, reds are totally unrealistic. The Z10 is great With the 10.3 update, feels better built, a more useable size, better screen (IMO), reasonable speed. Ok The camera sucks, the Z30 was not much better

I do miss the accuracy of keyboard phones. I've had 5. However the bigger screen and size of the Z10 made me stay. That plus the awesome HUB.

    Hi,
I would backup your files mentioned above. As long as you have your BlackBerry ID to sign in, BlackBerry World will have your apps there ready to re download. I've installed an Autoloader (10.3.1.xxx) and have a great fluid experience so far with more features that helps me get things done faster. You will enjoy the update.

Can you reload historical texts if you decide to redo the upgrade via autoloader (first was OTA and I'm having a nightmare time with the text app)? I have a lot of text history I need to access frequently on my phone without logging in to a PC to find in a backup.

I was ready to go back to my iPhone 5 just before the 10.3.1 update.
    I'm glad I waited.
Although the battery life is still pretty dismal, the new update is awesome.
I'm not going anywhere just yet although the temptation is always there.
It's the BlackBerry 10 OS that keeps me hanging around.
Maybe I'll check out a Passport if I can find one on display here in Toronto.

    Caper in Toronto.
